The 2022 World Cup will be played this winter in Qatar. It is the first World Cup to not be played in either May, June, or July due to the intense summer heat that Qatar endures. This is the 22nd World Cup to be played in a tournament-style football competition that occurs once every four years. The World Cup is a tournament that needs to be qualified for as countries from across the world will compete to just make the cut. Every year only one country's team is crowned as the World Cup winner. This 22nd World Cup in 2022 will have a lot of countries vying for the World Cup trophy. Some teams will have a better chance than others to win. Five of those top teams we break down in this article, along with their outright online betting odds.

It has been 20 years since the Brazil national football team has won the World Cup. Many people think of Brazil as a dominant football country and also specifically having a dominant national football team. The last World Cup, Brazil lost in the first round to Belgium in a match that ended 1-2. This World Cup, Brazil is one of the betting favorites on a lot of sportsbooks to win the whole thing. They should have all the confidence in the world to come out strong in the tournament to win the cup.

The team is led by their star player Neymar. Neymar has been one of the best players in the world for a long time now. He brings the unique ability to get his own shot whenever the ball is in his control. That playmaking and special talent is what sets him apart from other players, especially in a single-elimination tournament. Brazil also has a ton more talent on the team that makes this 2022 team a dangerous all around favorite to win the World Cup.

England

Odds: 11/2

One of the many favorites to come from Europe is England. England remains one of the favorites even after they have been getting dominated by some other countries recently. In the past two matches for Englasnd's national football team, they have lost both of them by a score of 0-4. These two losses came against Italy and then Hungary. This isn't encouraging, but England still has one of the best overall players in the world who will be playing in the World Cup in Harry Kane, as well as a terrific all around roster. Aside from Kane, England has Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden, who have come along as great players of their own, which makes England that more dangerous to be contenders for the cup.

England hasn't won the World Cup since they did in 1966 and after that victory they have never placed better than fourth, which they came in at after the last World Cup in 2018. Kane led that 2018 team with six goals that was the most in the tournament. He will look to improve even further on his performance in the 2022 World Cup if England is going to have a chance to win the whole thing.

France

Odds: 6/1

France has been one of the best World Cup performing teams in history. Last World Cup in 2018 they won the whole thing behind their young star Kylian Mbappé, who was 19 at the time, and Antoine Griezmann, who scored four goals and had two assists. France also won the World Cup in 1998 and has two other third place finishes. No team has won back-to-back World Cups since Brazil accomplished the feat all the way back in 1962. France will look to be the next country to win two in a row come the 2022 World Cup.

Karim Benzema did not play for France in the 2018 World Cup when they won, but he expects to play this time to help his country defend the title. He is expected to be one of France's top goal scorers for the tournament. France has a ton of talent and should be considered one of the favorites to win the World Cup yet again this winter.

Spain

Odds: 8/1

The 2010 World Cup winners will be one of the favourites for this 2022 World Cup as Spain has put together a roster that can compete with any of the other countries. Last World Cup, Spain lost in the first round after a devastating loss to Russia that ended in penalty kicks. This year they will have to play against some of their biggest country rivals in Group E such as Germany, who they beat in the semifinals in 2010 on their way to the World Cup victory, as well as Japan.

The Spanish team is good, but they lack some star power that other countries have. Still, they should have a good chance at winning due to their team being solid at every position. They will likely be led by Ferran Torres and Alvaro Morata in this World Cup after Diego Costa will not play for the team.

Argentina

Odds 8/1

Argentina is another South American team that is expected to compete for the 2022 World Cup. They have won two World Cups and were the runners up in the 2014 World Cup after they lost to Germany in the final. This team has one of the most dangerous weapons in the tournament in Lionel Messi. Messi is expected to carry this team offensively as they try to get back to the finals, this time in 2022.

A recent 3-0 win over Italy is a big reason why people are expecting them to be top contenders come this winter. A big loss for the Argentina national team is that of Sergio Agüero, who was one of their top performers in the 2018 World Cup. Lautaro Martinez is expected to take on a larger role in the tournament due to his absence. Argentina has the talent to compete with the best teams in the 2022 World Cup, they will just need to execute their game plan.
