Here at, we are seeing an uptake in the number of bets being placed on the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Los Angeles Clippers were building a dynasty when they brought in two All Stars in Kahwi Leonard and Paul George the same year for the 2019-2020 season. The question ever since for this talented Clippers team has always been about the health of their two previously mentioned super stars. Whenever this team starts to get hot or go on a run, one of them ends up getting injured. This also happens around or during the playoffs. With so many injuries it is hard to say what the ceiling for this team is. They will have everyone back healthy again finally for the upcoming season and it will be interesting to see how they do with a full arsenal.

In this post, we shine the spotlight on the LA Clippers, exploring some critical information bettors will need! If you are looking to bet on the NBA, BetMGM is offering new player credits as well as a friend referral bonus of up to $50!

The Backstory

In the first season with Leonard and George, the Clippers won 49 regular season games in a shortened 72-game regular season. The Clippers ended up being the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference but were upset by the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the playoffs. Denver had Nikola Jokic and a healthy Jamal Murray, which made them a dangerous team, but the Clippers were the favorite in that series.

The next year, in the 2021 playoffs, the Clippers were just a four seed after Leonard and George played just 52 and 54 games, respectively, during the regular season. Heading into the playoffs the Clippers were healthy though. They made easy work of their first-round opponent, the Dallas Mavericks again, and then beat the No. 1 seed Utah in the second round. Unfortunately for the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard was not able to play in a single game in that Western Conference Finals matchup against the Phoenix Suns due to an injury.

This past season in 2021-2022 was the worst for the pair of superstars, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. Leonard was unable to play a single game after attempting to recover from an injury sustained last year that was a torn ACL. Paul George began the year with the team but suffered an injury to his UCL that kept him out of the lineup starting on December 22nd. The Clippers still were managing to have a good season without the two, and George even came back and played five games at the end of the year. However, George was unable to play in the play-in game, and the Clippers ended up losing the game to become eliminated. Many people were expecting Geroge, and possibly Leonard, to return to the lineup if they were able to make it into the playoffs.

A Healthy George and Leonard

The Clippers should be excited about this upcoming season. They have both George and Leonard fully healthy for the first time since the 2020-2021 regular season, and they are likely to draw in some key free agent additions to the team as well. One of those potential free agents is John Wall, who is expected to sign with the team after being bought out by the Houston Rockets. Wall still has a lot left in the tank as he was a former All Star before he had some injuries of his own. He is just one of many potential options that the Clippers could add to this team before the season tips off in October.

Last season was not a lost cause either. Many of the young and promising Clippers were able to show that they were capable of being good NBA players on a winning team. Reggie Jackson had always been the third option on this team, but without George and Leonard, he showed he could be a true go-to player. Marcus Morris was another standout as he showed he was also a capable scorer and should be a good piece for this team moving forward. These players showed they could be good surrounding players around Leonard and George, while they also developed some young talent like Terrance Mann and Ivaca Zubac.

Championship Contenders?

This team has the talent to be a championship contender next year. The big question for this team is just keeping George and Leonard healthy. Leonard was arguably a top-three player in the NBA just a couple of years ago and likely still would be considered that if he didn't tear his ACL before the Western Conference Finals in 2021. That team could have been on their way to the NBA Finals if they had Leonard, and instead, they lost in six games to the Phoenix Suns. The Clippers will look to get back to the Western Conference Finals and win it next year.

The Western Conference has been weaker than it will be next year. This year, the only real contender was the Golden State Warriors. They were far and above every other team in the conference. The main contender for the Warriors came in the East as many people saw Boston, Milwaukee, and Miami as better than any other team in the West besides the Warriors. Next year should be different. The Lakers will inevitably bounce back with some big offseason moves to surround a healthy Lebron James and Anthony Davis with some help, the Memphis Grizzlies will add more talent around Ja Morant, and the Phoenix Suns likely will as well. This will make it tougher for the Clippers compared to previous years, but the Clippers arguably have more overall talent right now than any of those teams mentioned.

It will not be an easy task to get through the Western Conference for the Clippers next year as a lot of teams are expected to be much more competitive. The Clippers will have to keep George and Leonard healthy for their playoff run and get through some tough teams out West. Kawhi Leonard will also need to return to his previous self when he was an All NBA First Team member as well as the two-time defensive player of the year in the NBA for them to truly compete for the NBA championship. This team can only go as far as Leonard can take them. It will be a storyline to watch come next season.
