If you are a cricket fan, you will have heard of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, the former Indian international cricketer with a colourful and successful sporting resume. Widely accepted as the greatest batsman in the sport's history, Tendulkar is a name that has become synonymous with Indian Cricket.

Early Life
Sachin Tendulkar was born in Dadar, Mumbai, on 24th April 1973. While a hugely famous name, he is not the only star from the Tendulkar family. His father, Ramesh Tendulkar, was a renowned Marathi poet and novelist whose beloved work is famed in India.
But how did Sachin get into Cricket?
Rumour has it that his older brother, Ajit, was the first to recognise his immense talent on the field after introducing him to Cricket in 1984. Interestingly, at this time, Tendulkar was also passionate about tennis. At 14, he scored 326 out of a world-record stand of 664 in a school match.
It was on his brother's advise that he made the move to English school, Sharadashram Vidyamandir English High School in Dadar. He was also responsible for Tendulkar's entrance into Ramakant Achrekar's academy at Shivaji Park. This academy provided a launchpad for Sachin Tendulkar's professional career.
Where His Professional Cricket Journey Began...
He made his cricket debut at the age of just 13 in a game between Mumbai and Gujarat. In this game, Sachin immediately presented his cricket abilities, scoring 100 not out. From there, he went on to play in matches at the national and international levels.

During his illustrious career, Sachin Tendulkar had the pleasure of playing for some of the most prestigious cricket teams in India. These include the Indian Cricket Team, A.C.C. Asian XI, Mumbai Cricket Teams, Mumbai Indians, and the Yorkshire Cricket Team.
During his career, he represented India in a vast 657 matches!
Iconic Performances
Sachin Tendulkar made a real name for himself in the 2011 World Cup, where he became the highest run-scorer. Tendulkar scored 482 runs at an average of 53.55. Famous footage shows Tendulkar's emotional response to this performance. To this day, he refers to this score as the best day of his career.
In 2012, Tendulkar made history, becoming the first batsman to cross the 34,000-run aggregate in all formats of Cricket. In March of the same, he achieved his 100th-century milestone in a match against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup.

Retirement
Sachin announced in December 2012 that he was to retire from playing in ODI and T20 International matches. He played his last IDO match in 2013, a twenty20 match.
His 200th test match against West Indies in November 2013 was his final farewell to Cricket.
Following the game, he said:
"All my life, I have had a dream of playing Cricket for India. I have been living this dream every day for the last 24 years. It's been a huge honour to have represented my country and played all over the world. I look forward to playing my 200th Test match on home soil, as I call it a day."
While retiring from playing, Tendulkar's early retirement was still very much synonymous with Cricket. Shortly after his exit from playing, he went on to own the Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters, before selling his share to co-owner Allu Arjun.
Now, ten years after his last match, his work mainly surrounds being a brand representative, having helped promote companies such as ITC's Savlon, Spinny, Apollo Tyres and JioCinema. According to reports, he boasts a net worth of $73.6 million.
However, these successes have come with various woes. Just recently, Tendulkar went on to defend himself. It turned out that betting sites and casinos had been morphing images of the cricket star to make it seem he was one of their brand ambassadors.
