Manchester United host Atletico Madrid on Tuesday with a place in the Champions League quarter-final at stake. The two European giants played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in the first leg so everything is still to play for at Old Trafford this week. Here at betting.bet we'll preview this huge European tie, bringing up-to-date team news, betting tips and match odds from our partners at Betfair.

Team News

Luke Shaw, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay could all return on Tuesday having missed the weekend win against Spurs. Interim boss, Ralf Rangnick seemed confident when declaring that โ€œall playersโ€ are available to face Atletico Madrid.

Visitors, Atletico Madrid have a host of players either missing or doubtful. Thomas Lemar, Matheus Cunha, Sime Vrsaljko and Daniel Wass are all injured whilst Yannick Carrasco is suspended.

Koke, Jose Gimenez, Mario Hermoso and Geoffrey Kondogbia have travelled to Manchester but remain fitness concerns for Diego Simeone.

Form

Manchester United have taken four points from nine available since claiming a draw in the first leg in Madrid. A disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Watford followed immediately on from the stalemate in Madrid. A week later and Manchester United were totally outplayed when losing 4-1 to local rivals, Manchester City. The Red Devils will be boosted by a 3-2 win at home to Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday.

Atletico Madrid have also played three times since the first leg. Quite ominously, they have won all three of those matches.

Betting Tips

Cristiano Ronaldo fired a superb hat-trick for Manchester United at the weekend. The Portuguese forward has an excellent record against Tuesday's opponents, scoring 25 times in appearances for Real Madrid and Juventus. He will be well supported to score at any time at 5/4 whilst he is also generously priced to score first at 7/2.

Neither Manchester United or Atletico Madrid have been great defensively this season. In the Premier League you have to go down as far as Southampton in tenth to find a team that has conceded more league goals than Manchester United. Atletico Madrid don't far much better, Diego Simeone's side have the worst defensive record of the teams that currently occupy the top eight positions in La Liga. Both teams to score looks a certainty once again at 9/10. Over 2.5 match goals is equally as attractively priced at 23/20.

Match Odds

  • Manchester United: 6/5
  • Draw: 9/4
  • Atletico Madrid: 13/5

To progress:

  • Manchester United: 4/7
  • Atletico Madrid: 11/8
