Irish Gold Cup: Online Betting Predictions
Galopin Des Champs will rightfully go off as odds-on favourite after putting his Cheltenham Festival fall behind him
Leopardstown hosts the Dublin Racing Festival this weekend with no fewer than eight Grade 1 races to be staged across Saturday and Sunday. The feature race on Saturday is the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup. The seven-strong field take on the three mile course and here at freebets.ltd.uk we'll ensure you have the very best race odds and free bet promotions from our betting partners at BoyleSports.
Galopin Des Champs will rightfully go off as odds-on favourite after putting his Cheltenham Festival fall behind him with two impressive Grade 1 wins back in Ireland. Last seen in mid-December when claiming a commanding 13-length victory in the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase.
Only previous run over three miles came at Punchestown when winning the Irish Mirror Novice Hurdle in April 2021. Stattler was well-held in third that day.
Galopin Des Champs also has form at Leopardstown having won twice over 2m5f last season. Won the Grade 1 Ladbrokes Novice Chase at last year's DRF and will take some beating on Saturday.
According to the betting markets, Stattler poses the biggest threat to Galopin Des Champs. Not finished outside the top two since that Punchestown third almost two years ago. Lost by a neck on seasonal reappearance behind Minella Indo on New Year's Day but was mightily impressive when winning a Grade 2 Novice Chase at last year's Cheltenham Festival.
Kemboy won this race in 2021 but has incredibly not won in twelve races since. Always seems to find one too good and has finished second in each of his last four runs. Kemboy was just edged out by Envoi Allen in the Ladbrokes Champion Chase before he was second behind Conflated over C&D in the Savills Chase in December. Probably the each-way value in the field.
The Gordon Elliott-trained, Fury Road is the only other C&D winner in the race. Fury Road landed the Grade 1 Neville Hotels Novice Chase in December 2021, finishing eight lengths clear of Run Wild Fred.
