Nottingham Forest and Manchester United meet at the City Ground this week in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final. With a place in next month's final at Wembley up for grabs, we're really excited to see what the semi-finals have in store for us. Here at betting.bet you can find the latest match odds and free bet promotions from our betting partners at Betfred.

Road to the Semi-final

Nottingham Forest started their march to the semi-final with a comfortable win away at Grimsby Town in round two before claiming the notable scalp of Tottenham Hotspur in the third round. Forest were again drawn away at lower league opposition in the fourth round, easing past Blackburn Rovers 4-1 at Ewood Park. Nottingham Forest needed penalties to overcome Wolves in their quarter-final clash

Manchester United twice came from behind to defeat Aston Villa in round three before claiming a 2-0 win at home to local rivals, Burnley in the fourth round. In the quarter-finals, Manchester United were handed a favourable home draw against League One side, Charlton Athletic. The Red Devils eased to a 3-0 win.

Domestic Form

Nottingham Forest have climbed clear of the Premier League's relegation zone and currently sit in thirteenth in the league. Steve Cooper's side are unbeaten in the league in 2023, winning two and drawing two of their four matches so far.

After an encouraging run of form post-World Cup, Manchester United are now winless in their past two Premier League matches. Erik ten Hag's drew 1-1 away at Crystal Palace before going down 3-2 at league leaders, Arsenal last time out. United still occupy a top four position.

Betting Tips

The first leg of a domestic cup semi-final is often about not losing rather than winning. We could be set for an edgy 90 minutes at the City Ground which makes under 2.5 match goals a solid bet at 5/6.

We're expecting Manchester United to progress to next month's final so we're not opposed to backing an away win at odds of 8/13.

Combining both our recommended bets could boost your odds considerably, Manchester United to win and under 2.5 match goals is great value at 13/5. If this bet lands there are only two correct score possibilities, 1-0 is priced at 11/2 whilst 2-0 is 13/2.

Marcus Rashford scored twice in the Carabao Cup quarter-final and is currently the joint-top scorer in the competition with four goals. The England forward has scored nine goals in Manchester United's last nine matches and scored the opening goal of the match when these sides met in the league last month. Rashford to score first is superb value at 7/2. Betfred's double-delight, hat-trick heaven special is available on all first scorer bets for this match.

Match Odds
