Weights for the 2023 Grand National, the most prestigious race in the sport of horse racing, were finalised last week.

As of right now, 85 individuals are registered to compete in the 2023 Grand National, which will begin on Monday, April 15 at 5:15 p.m.

This is the biggest horse race of the year, and people from all over the world tune in to watch it at Aintree Racecourse.

It was 2022 Sam Waley-Cohen rode Noble Yeats to victory in his final race before retirement. Waley-huge Cohen's 50/1 odds paid off, and he took home the trophy. He is the clear favourite thanks to his 11-11 record.

Corach Rambler, Gaillard du Mesnil, Longhouse Poet, Mr. Incredible, Any Second Now, and Delta Work are also in the running for first place.

Historically, Rachael Blackmore became the first female jockey to win the race in 2021, when she rode Minella Times to victory.

On Tuesday, it was reported that the well-known horse would be retiring.

Rachael spoke Betfair on this:

โ€œIt's a day I will never forget. He is such a special horse to a lot of people, now he will get to enjoy a wonderful well deserved retirement in Martinstown.โ€œHenry [de Bromhead, trainer] and all the team in Knockeen did such an incredible job with me and I will always be so grateful for that.โ€

Grand National 2023 Weights

On Tuesday, the official weights were announced for the world's largest race. Some horse prices have also fluctuated significantly as a result of this.

The best-priced contender, Lucinda Russell's Corach Rambler (12/1) was assigned a weight of 10st 5lb and started the race at 16s. With an extra four pounds than in 2017, Any Second Now is the heaviest of the year at 11 st 12 lb.

The 15/2 favourite owned by JP McManus in 2022 came in second to Noble Yeats. Ten-year-old Delta Work, racing under the colours of the Gigginstown Stud, has been lowered from 12st to 11st 4lb and is listed as a 20/1 shot.

However, the 25/1 long shot Hewick is appealing and is frequently recommended by bookmakers.

The Irish horse was a 21/10 favourite and won the US Grand National in October. The T.J. McDonald-owned horse unseated Jordan Gainford at the final fence of Listowel's Kerry National Handicap Chase.

Before that jump, he had a great shot at victory, and he is often forgotten about in comparison to other long-distance horses. The John Hanlon-trained horse won the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown despite odds of 16/1.
