Form
Manchester City booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-final on Tuesday but defeating Bristol City 3-0 at Ashton Gate. Pep Guardiola's side are now unbeaten in six matches in all competitions whilst their unbeaten home record stretches all the way back to November.
Newcastle United have to dust themselves down after losing last weekend's Carabao Cup final as they continue their push for Champions League qualification. The Magpies are four points adrift of Spurs who currently occupy fourth spot but Eddie Howe's side have two games in hand.
Newcastle United have failed to win any of their last four Premier League matches, taking just three points from a possible twelve.
Manchester City v Newcastle United: Head-to-head
Newcastle United have never won a league game at the Etihad Stadium with their last away league win against Saturday's opponents coming at Maine Road back in 2000. They did however win a League Cup tie on the ground in the 2014.
The corresponding fixture last season ended in a 5-0 win for the hosts whilst Manchester City and Newcastle United shared the spoils when the sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at St James Park in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Betting Tips
When these two sides meet we almost always get a bucket load of goals. The last six league games have produced a combined 26 goals. Over 2.5 match goals has to be our bet of the day at 13/20. Manchester City cannot afford any slip-ups in their efforts to overhaul Arsenal at the top of the league and we're happy to add a Manchester City win to our over 2.5 match goals selection to boost the odds to 21/20.
Erling Haaland is the obvious selection in the goal scorer markets as he continues his phenomenal scoring record in his debut season. However, at 8/15 to score at any time, he doesn't offer great value. As we look for alternatives, Phil Foden is a stand-out option. The England international midfielder has scored three times in Manchester City's last two matches and is an excellent option at 17/10 to score at any time.
Joelinton has managed to rack up nine yellow cards already this season, a total only exceeded by Fulham midfielder, Joao Palhinha. You can back the Brazilian to be carded at 23/10.
Match Odds
- Manchester City: 2/5
- Draw: 17/5
- Newcastle United: 6/1
