Form

Arsenal are one of only two sides yet to suffer a loss in the Premier League this term. The Gunners have taken seventeen points from their seven matches so far (5 wins, two draws).

Arsenal’s most recent league game was a comfortable 4-0 win away at AFC Bournemouth however, they have since gone down to a 2-1 defeat against French side, Lens in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester City suffered their first league defeat of the season last weekend, losing 2-1 against Wolves at Molineux. However, having won their previous six matches, Pep Guardiola’s side remain in first place in the Premier League.

Manchester City earned their first win in this season’s Champions League on Tuesday evening as they claimed a deserved 3-1 win away at RB Leipzig.

Arsenal v Manchester City: head-to-head

Manchester City hold a considerable advantage in recent Premier League matches between last season’s top two.

Manchester City have won twelve consecutive league games against Arsenal and have not been beaten in the league by the Gunners since December 2015.

The corresponding fixture at the Emirates Stadium ended in a 3-1 win for the visitors, thanks to goals by Kevin de Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland. The reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium ended in a 4-1 Manchester City win.

The two clubs met in this season’s Community Shield with Arsenal winning on penalties after the match had finished 1-1.

Team News

There will be some notable absentees from Sunday’s fixture. Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Martinelli remain absent for the Gunners whilst Bukayo Saka is a major injury doubt.

Rodri is still suspended for Manchester City and the visitors will also be without Kevin de Bruyne due to injury.

Online Betting Tips

Manchester City’s superior record in this fixture should give them the edge on Sunday but they simply do not look the same side without Rodri at the heart of their midfield. Arsenal to win at home looks too good to turn down at odds of 7/4.

Former Manchester City forward, Gabriel Jesus has not scored in any of Arsenal’s last three Premier League games but the Brazilian has scored in back-to-back Champions League fixtures. At 11/4, Gabriel Jesus looks a solid bet to score at any time whilst he’s generously priced at 13/2 to score first.

We’re expecting goals at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, making several betting markets an attractive proposition. Firstly, there has not been a clean sheet earned in any of Arsenal’s four home league games so far this season whilst Manchester City have kept just one clean sheet in eight games in all competitions. Both teams to score is currently available at 6/10. There has been over 2.5 match goals in each of the past four league games contested by Arsenal and Manchester City, making over 2.5 match goals on Sunday an equally attractive betting proposition at 7/10.

Erling Haaland had been the go-to player in the goal scorer markets ever since he arrived at Manchester City last summer. However, having recorded just one shot on goal against Wolves in Manchester City’s last league game, we’re now looking elsewhere for value. Julian Alvarez seems to be improving with each game and has scored in each of Manchester City’s last two matches. Alvarez has netted five times in Manchester City’s last seven games in all competitions and looks a shrewd choice at 11/4 to score at any time against Arsenal.

Corner betting could provide an excellent way of boosting any winnings on Sunday. Manchester City have had over 3.5 corners in each of their past five matches whilst Arsenal’s record extends to over 3.5 corners in twelve consecutive matches. William Hill are offering odds of 9/5 for the match to produce over 10.5 corners.

Match Odds

  • Arsenal: 7/4
  • Draw: 13/5
  • Manchester City: 7/5
