Fight Postponement
Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn were originally scheduled to fight at London’s O2 Arena in October 2022 but this was postponed after Benn tested positive for a banned substance in the lead up to the fight.
In the meantime, Chris Eubank Jr. has remained active, fighting former WBO light-middleweight champion, Liam Smith twice in 2023. Smith earned a shock fourth-round knockout win at the Manchester Arena in January before Eubank Jr. avenged that loss on September 2nd with a stoppage of his own.
Benn has since been cleared by the NADP (National Anti-Doping Panel), returning to the ring in a unanimous points win over Rodolfo Orozco in September. However, UKAD (UK Anti-Doping Agency) and the British Boxing Board of Control have appealed the NADP ruling. Promoter, Eddie Hearn has confirmed an alternative sanctioning body will be sought if the BBBoC do not sanction the bout. However, Conor Benn was officially put back in the WBC rankings as of February 2023.
Born Rivals
Chris Eubank Jr. usually fights a couple of weight divisions above Conor Benn but given their respective paternal backgrounds, a fight always seemed an inevitability. In the 1980’s, Nigel Benn, father of Conor, twice fought against Chris Eubank Sr. in what was a golden era for British middleweight boxing. A second generation of Eubank versus Benn in a boxing ring offers incredible nostalgia.

Professional Boxing Record
Conor Benn boasts a 100% record as a professional but Chris Eubank Jr. would be a considerable step up in class for the London-born 27-year-old. Conor Benn’s most notable win to date is probably his second-round knockout victory over former IBO welterweight champion, Chris van Heerden.
Meanwhile, Chris Eubank Jr. has lost three times as a professional with defeats against Billy Joe Saunders, George Groves and Liam Smith. However, Eubank Jr. is a two-time IBO super-middleweight title holder.
Catchweight
Benn has never fought professionally above the welterweight’s 147lbs limit but he is likely to take on Eubank Jr. at a 157lbs catchweight.
Chris Eubank Jr. started his professional career at middleweight before stepping up to super-middleweight in more recent bouts. Eubank’s last fight saw him tip the scales at just shy of 160lbs.
Chris Eubank Jr. v Conor Benn Betting Tips
It’ll be interesting to see how Chris Eubank Jr. handles the drop in weight when these two eventually meet. Eubank Jr. holds a height, weight and reach advantage over his younger, less-experienced opponent and should he adequately handle the weight cut, we only see one winner of this. 24 of Eubank’s 33 wins have come inside the distance and a stoppage victory could prove the picks of the bets.
