Tuesday 16th January
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Brentford
Wolves and Brentford head to Molineux on Tuesday evening having played out a 1-1 draw in West London earlier this month. Wolves will count themselves lucky to still be in the competition having played more than 80 minutes at the Gtech Community Stadium with ten men. Brentford had 73% possession and 14 shots to Wolves’ 7 but they could not make the most of the man advantage.
As they head up to Molineux, Brentford have probably given up their best chance of reaching round four. The Bees of not beaten Wolves in five matches, losing three and drawing twice and are nine points adrift of Tuesday’s hosts in the Premier League table.

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Brentford Betting Tip: Wolves to win (20/21)
Birmingham City v Hull City
Both Birmingham City and Hull City made wholesale changes ahead of their third round tie and a late Matty Jacob equaliser saw Hill City take the tie to a replay.
Since their last meeting, Birmingham City have moved to appoint Tony Mowbray as Wayne Rooney’s managerial successor and they started life under Mowbray by snatching a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Swansea City at the weekend.
Hull City slipped out of the top six at the weekend as they lost 2-1 at home to Norwich City. The Tigers continue their play-off push while Birmingham City find themselves in a relegation battle, Will an FA Cup run be a welcome distraction or create an unwanted fixture pile-up? Both sides made seven changes to their respective lineups ahead of their first fixture and the strength of their team selection could decide this replay.

Birmingham City | 13/10 |
Draw | 5/2 |
Hull City | 19/10 |
Birmingham City v Hull City Betting Tip: Both teams to score (8/15)
Bolton Wanderers v Luton Town
League One side, Bolton Wanderers earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road to force a replay.
A full-strength Luton Town side has the lion’s share of possession and also had 18 shots on goals compared to Bolton’s 7 but the Hatters could not find a winner.
In their debut Premier League campaign, Luton Town have taken as many points (8) away from home as they’ve earned at home. Therefore, they will not be daunted by a trip to third-tier Bolton Wanderers. We’re expecting the Premier League side to ease into round four.
Bolton Wanderers v Luton Town | Odds |

Bolton Wanderers | 17/10 |
Draw | 12/5 |
Luton Town | 6/4 |
Bolton Wanderers v Luton Town Betting Tip: Luton Town to win (6/4)
Bristol City v West Ham United
Another Premier League side to be held to a draw at home to lower division opposition in the third round were West Ham United. David Moyes’ side took less than four minutes to go 1-0 against Bristol City at the London Stadium but were pegged back midway through the second half as Bristol City earned a deserved 1-1 draw.
Bristol City’s league form has to be a concern, the Robins are without so much as a goal in the Championship since Boxing Day. However, West Ham United are likely to be without Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta through injury whilst Mohamed Kudus is away on international duty.
We aren’t expecting too many goals at Ashton Gate and given the rumblings of discontent coming out of West Ham over the decision to play the FA Cup replay during the Premier League’s winter break, Bristol City could just edge this tie.
Bristol City V West Ham | Odds |
---|---|
Bristol City | 3/1 |
Draw | 12/5 |
West Ham United | 10/11 |
Bristol City v West Ham Betting Tip: Under 2.5 match goals (3/4)
Eastleigh v Newport County
Two of the lowest-ranked sides left in the competition have one considerable incentive ahead of this third round replay; awaiting the winner is a home tie in round four against Manchester United.
Eastleigh of the National League forced a replay against League Two side, Newport County despite playing the entire second half of their third round tie in South Wales with ten men.
Eastleigh have home advantage for the replay but Newport County’s recent FA Cup record is an excellent one. The Exiles have earned recent cup wins over Leeds United and Leicester City whilst also earning replays against Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough.
Eastleigh warmed up for their FA Cup replay with a 1-0 home defeat against Southend United whilst Newport County were 1-0 winners away at Doncaster Rovers.
Eastleigh v Newport County | Odds |
---|---|
Eastleigh | 31/20 |
Draw | 13/5 |
Newport County | 6/4 |
Eastleigh v Newport County Betting Tip: Newport County to win and over 2.5 match goals (12/5)
Wednesday 17th January
Blackpool v Nottingham Forest
Blackpool and Nottingham Forest played out an exciting 2-2 draw at the City Ground earlier this month and will now replay at Bloomfield Road on Wednesday.
Blackpool boast the best home record in League One with 32 points from 15 home league games. In contrast, Nottingham Forest have just eight points from ten Premier League matches away from home.
Nottingham Forest have won back-to-back Premier League games but are yet to play a league match in 2024. Blackpool have already played four times this month across three competitions but remain unbeaten.

Blackpool | 11/4 |
Draw | 13/5 |
Nottingham Forest | 10/11 |
Blackpool v Nottingham Forest Betting Tip: Blackpool or draw (Double Chance) (5/6)
Bristol Rovers v Norwich City
Norwich City may have had two third of the possession against Bristol Rovers at Carrow Road but the League One side left East Anglia with a deserved 1-1 draw. The two sides now head to the Memorial Stadium for a third round replay.
Norwich City are unbeaten in three matches in 2024 and will go into Wednesday’s replay as the bookies’ favourites. The Canaries warmed up with an impressive 2-1 league win away at play-off-chasing Hull City. In contrast, Bristol Rovers have lost both league games played this month, including a 2-1 defeat at Barnsley at the weekend.
Bristol Rovers v Norwich | Odds |
---|---|
Bristol Rovers | 7/4 |
Draw | 13/5 |
Norwich City | 11/8 |
Bristol v Norwich City Betting Tip: Norwich City to win to nil (4/1)
Everton v Crystal Palace
An all-Premier League cup tie between Crystal Palace and Everton ended even at Selhurst Park as the sides played out a 0-0 draw.
Everton drew 0-0 away at Aston Villa in the Premier League at the weekend and have now failed to score in three successive matches. Crystal Palace are yet to play a league fixture in 2024 but will that translate to a well-rested squad or one lacking in match fitness?
Everton have had the advantage in recent head-to-heads between the clubs, especially at Goodison Park. Prior to their FA Cup third round tie, the Toffees had won three and drawn one of their previous four matches against Crystal Palace. Crystal Palace have not won at Goodison Park in any of their past eight visits. Their last win away at Everton came way back in September 2014.
