BREAKING NEWS: Lewis Hamilton Set for Ferrari Switch
Lewis Hamilton will move from Mercedes to Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season.
It may be transfer deadline day for football clubs across the UK but the biggest transfer of the day has come in Formula One with the news that Lewis Hamilton will move from Mercedes to Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season.
Seven-time world champion Hamilton has been with Mercedes for ten years and his total of 222 races for Mercedes is an F1 record for an individual driver with any one constructor. However, the 39-year-old has cut a frustrated figure over the past two seasons as his Mercedes has struggled to keep pace with the dominance of Red Bull and Max Verstappen in particular. Hamilton has not won a single F1 race since 2021 whilst Verstappenโs record-breaking 2023 season saw him smash his own record for total race wins in a season by taking the chequered flag in 19 of the 22 raceโs on the 2023 calendar. Verstappen also broke the record for consecutive race wins as he put together a sequence of ten successive victories.
One Last Dance
Hamilton will replace Carlos Sainz at Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season which means this yearโs Formula One World Championship will be his last at Mercedes. Ahead of what will now be Lewis Hamiltonโs Mercedes swansong, the odds of him winning a record-breaking eighth world championship have been slashed considerably since the news broke on Thursday afternoon. Bookmaker, Betfred have Hamilton at just 8/1 to win another world title whilst Verstappen has eased to 1/4 as he attempts to win a fourth successive title.
