Royale Pagaille could be out for the season after falling at Cheltenham on the weekend.

Royale Pagaille might be sidelined for the remainder of the season, according to trainer Venetia Williams, due to lingering soreness from a fall at the last fence during Cheltenham's Cotswold Chase. Despite the 10-year-old's impressive victory at the Betfair Chase in November and holding an entry for the prestigious Gold Cup and potential consideration for the Grand National, his participation in future races is uncertain after the mishap at Cheltenham's Trials Day. Williams expressed concern over his condition, indicating that while he is expected to recover, it may take some time, casting doubt on his appearance in any races for the rest of the season.

In contrast, there's optimistic news regarding L’Homme Presse, another prominent horse from Williams' stable, following his triumphant return at Lingfield. After defeating Protektorat in the Fleur De Lys Chase with a standout performance, L’Homme Presse is gearing up for the Betfair Ascot Chase on February 17 as part of his preparation for the Gold Cup. With Williams expressing satisfaction with his condition, L’Homme Presse, alongside Shishkin, is considered one of Britain’s prime contenders to win the Gold Cup, a feat last achieved by a British horse in 2018 with Native River. Currently, L’Homme Presse is favourably rated at 10-1 by bookmakers for the Gold Cup victory.
