Mourinho's Next Move: Chelsea in the Running
As Pochettino Faces Pressure, Betting Odds Suggest Mourinho Could Return to Stamford Bridge
Looks like Chelsea could be the next stop for Jose Mourinho, with odds at 3/1, especially since Mauricio Pochettino is feeling the heat. Chelsea just took a hit with a 4-2 loss to Wolves at home, dropping them to 11th in the Premier League. Even with all the cash thrown at the team, they're struggling to make a splash in Europe under Todd Boehly's watch.
Pochettino did manage to get them to the Carabao Cup final though, where they'll face Liverpool at Wembley by the end of February. But after Sunday's loss, the odds of him being the next Premier League manager to pack up have dropped to 7/2.
Here's how the odds stack up for Mourinho's next gig:
- Some team in the Saudi Pro League is the hot favourite at 1/3
- Chelsea's in the running at 3/1
- Newcastle's a possibility at 4/1
- Bayern Munich and Napoli are both long shots at 8/1
- FC Barcelona's even further out at 12/1
- And the Portugal national team is at 14/1
Mourinho's been taking a break since his time at Roma wrapped up in mid-January, but let's not forget, he did snag the Europa Conference League trophy with them in 2022. And, of course, Mourinho and Chelsea have a rich history together, bagging the Premier League title in 2005, 2006, and 2015, not to mention an FA Cup and a couple of League Cups.
