As part of our new daily betting tips feature, each Tuesday we will offer three football bets as part of our recommended ‘Tuesday Treble’. This week’s action comes from fixtures in both the FA Cup and Sky Bet League One with odds courtesy of popular online betting site, Interbet.com.
Southampton v Watford
Treble selection: Southampton to win - 11/20
Bonus bet: Southampton to win at half-time & full-time - 6/5
Southampton take on Watford at St Mary’s on Tuesday in their FA Cup fourth round replay after escaping with a barely-deserved 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road. An immediate return to the Premier League remains a priority for The Saints and consequently manager, Russell Martin opted to make wholesale changes for the initial FA Cup fourth round tie, however, we can expect them to go back to a full-strength side for the replay as a plum fifth round tie against Liverpool at Anfield awaits the winner.
Southampton are unbeaten in all competitions since September 23rd whilst Watford head to the south coast on the back of a woeful performance when losing 1-0 at home to Cardiff City at the weekend. The Hornets have won just one league game since the turn of the year, a 2-1 win at relegation-threatened QPR where they were second best for large periods of the game.
The previous fixture between these sides represents the only time in their last five matches where Southampton have not been leading at both half-time and full-time. We’re tipping the home side to come flying out of the blocks on Tuesday and put this game to bed before half-time.
Port Vale v Leyton Orient:
Treble selection: Leyton Orient to win - 7/5
Bonus bet: Under 2.5 match goals - 10/11
Leyton Orient are making a late push for a play-off spot in League One thanks to a run of four wins and one draw from their past five league games. That run of results put Leyton Orient at the top of the division’s form table and includes wins against two of the current top three. On Tuesday they travel to a Port Vale side with just one point from their past four league games who are coming off the back of an embarrassing 3-0 loss away to struggling Fleetwood Town.
However, Leyton Orient have scored just 33 goals in their 29 league games this season, including a meagre 19 goals in 15 matches on the road. Under 2.5 match goals could be a sensible selection.
Cambridge United v Bolton Wanderers
Treble selection: Cambridge United to win - 13/5
Bonus bet: Lyle Taylor to score at any time - 7/2
With Derby County not in action until Wednesday, high-flying Bolton Wanderers can move into the League One automatic promotion spots for at least 24 hours with a win at Cambridge United. However, we’re not convinced that the visitors will take all three points back from the Abbey Stadium. The January acquisition of Lyle Taylor has transformed Cambridge United with two wins and two draws since he signed for the club enough to see them ease clear of the relegation. Taylor is responsible for three of the four goals scored by Cambridge United since his debut. In addition to the signing of Lyle Taylor, another real positive for Cambridge United is their home form; 25 of the 35 points they’ve accumulated in the league this season have been earned at home.
