25-year-old Kirkby died following a fall in a point-to-point meeting at Charing Racecourse in Kent.
Fire Flyer won his second race in a week on Tuesday as the Paul Nicholls-trained six-year-old landed the Racing TV Club Day Novices’ Hurdle at Taunton. However, for connections, the win was bittersweet following the tragic death of stable jockey, Keagan Kirky.
25-year-old, Kirkby died following a fall in a point-to-point meeting at Charing Racecourse in Kent. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help towards funding his funeral and a memorial for him with the initial £5,000 target exceeded by some distance.
Following Tuesday’s win for Fire Flyer, the winning prize money of £3,797 was donated to the fund with the message:
“To my daily rider out jockey and partner, Keagan .. R.I.P. Never forgotten.. I won for you at Taunton this afternoon …and here are my winnings”.
