Both sides are involved in the battle to avoid relegation, making Monday’s clash a real six-pointer
The final Premier League fixture of the weekend will see Everton host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Monday evening. Both sides are involved in the battle to avoid relegation, making Monday’s clash a real six-pointer. Here at betting.bet we’ll cast our eye over the Monday Night Football fixture, delivering the best odds and free bet offers from our betting partners at Ladbrokes.
Form
Everton’s ten-point deduction has left them languishing in the relegation zone on 19 points after 24 matches. The Toffees are now winless in seven league games and lost 2-0 at Manchester City last weekend. Everton’s last home league game saw them come from two goals down to snatch a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
Crystal Palace are five points and three positions better off than Monday’s hosts. The Eagles have earned 24 points in 24 matches so far. Monday’s visitors lost 3-1 at home to Chelsea last Monday to stretch their record to three defeats in four league games. In four Premier League games since the turn of the year, Crystal Palace have shipped 14 goals.
Everton v Crystal Palace: head-to-head
Everton have a good recent record against Crystal Palace and go into Monday’s fixture unbeaten in six matches against the visitors. The reverse fixture in November ended 3-2 in Everton’s favour whilst the corresponding fixture at Goodison Park last season also produced an Everton win as the hosts ran out 3-0 winners.
Betting tips
Despite currently occupying a place in the relegation zone, no team currently outside of the top six have a better defensive record than Everton in the league this season. Sean Dyche’s side have conceded just 32 goals in 24 matches. Along with Burnley and Sheffield United, both Everton and Crystal Palace are amongst the division’s four lowest-scoring sides this season. Given that Crystal Palace could be without the creative talents of both Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, under 2.5 match goals is likely and generously priced at 4/6.
If Eze and/or Olise are to miss out on Monday, it’ll be a major blow to the visitors’ chances; Everton to win to nil could be a sensible choice at 31/20.
Jack Harrison has been in decent goalscoring form recently and although we cannot back the Everton midfielder with too much confidence, he does seem to offer the best value for money in the various goal markets. Harrison has scored three goals in Everton’s last five home games in all competitions and is priced at 11/4 to score at any time on Monday. Given that goals are likely to be scarce at Goodison Park, there is probably better value in backing Harrison at 6/1 to score first.
