Today’s daily betting tips feature a handful of domestic cup fixtures on the continent. Action comes in Spain’s Copa del Rey, the Taca de Portugal and the Netherlands’ KNVB Cup with match odds from our partners at BoyleSports.
Athletic Bilbao v Atletico Madrid: Atletico Madrid not to win - 4/11
Athletic Bilbao hold a first leg lead in their Copa del Rey semi-final and now take home advantage in the second leg. From Athletic Bilbao’s perspective, this semi-final could not have come at a better time with their opponents struggling form and missing several key players.
Atletico Madrid need to score at least two goals to progress to April’s final and will be without top scorer, Antoine Griezmann for the trip to Bilbao. Jose Gimenez is also absent for Diego Simeone’s side as they look to end a run of four games without a win away from home in all competitions. Athletic Bilbao won 2-0 when the sides met at Estadio San Mames in La Liga earlier this season and a similar result would not be a surprise.
Sporting Lisbon v Benfica: Sporting Lisbon to win & under 2.5 match goals - 4/1
Two of Portugal’s big three meet on Thursday in the first leg of their Taca de Portugal semi-final. Whilst Benfica have a respectable away record this season, Sporting’s home form is second to none. Thursday’s hosts have lost just one game at home in all competitions this season and in the Primeira Liga they boast a 100% home record.
Sporting Lisbon lost 2-1 away at Benfica in December but head into this week’s cup game on the back of eight straight league wins. We’re tipping Sporting Lisbon to edge a cagey first leg.
Feyenoord v Groningen: Feyenoord -2 (handicap betting) - 20/21
Feyenoord are the red-hot favourites to go on and win the Netherlands’ premier domestic cup competition. The 13-time winners eliminated holders, PSV Eindhoven in the round of 16 and the competition has since opened up quite nicely. NEC Nijmegen await the winners of this semi-final and Groningen of the second tier will pose no real danger to Eredivisie high-flyers, Feyenoord. At 1/11, there is no value in backing Feyenoord in the win market but they are far more back-able in the handicap markets. 4/11 for Feyenoord -1 is great value but we’re incredibly confident of a big win for the Dutch giants.
