The Premier League of Darts heads to Exeter’s Westpoint Arena on Thursday for night five of this year’s tournament. Michael van Gerwen has raced into a significant lead after three overall wins in four weeks but there is still plenty to play for in the battle for the four coveted play-off places. As we preview the quarter-final draw on night five, we will offer exclusive betting tips as well as free bet offers and odds from tournament sponsors, BetMGM.
Luke Humphries v Michael van Gerwen
MVG is the man to beat at the moment, winning outright on three consecutive nights of Premier League action. The Dutchman has been in excellent form since his shock World Championship elimination and has only lost five matches so far in 2024. Whilst Luke Humphries showed signs of rediscovering his World Championship form, we could see a repeat of the two weeks ago when van Gerwen edged out Humphries in the final on night three in Glasgow.
Nathan Aspinall v Peter Wright
Peter Wright is still waiting for his first Premier League win of the year after a frustrating night in Newcastle last week. We had tipped Wright to defeat Luke Littler in his quarter-final at huge odds of 29/10 and he looked on course to repay our faith in him before failing to land a match dart at 5-4. A 103.37 average signifies that a return to form could be just around the corner for the two-time world champion and we’re sticking with Peter Wright to defeat Nathan Aspinall on Thursday.
Gerwyn Price v Rob Cross
Rob Cross is on the ascendancy after a tricky start to his Premier League campaign. The 2018 world champion kicked off the Premier League with back-to-back quarter-final losses but he has reached the semi-finals in successive weeks. However, we’re backing Welshman, Gerwyn Price to get back to winning ways in Exeter. Price reached the final on the opening night of the Premier League but has just one win in three nights since. Price was unlucky to come up against a Michael van Gerwen in red-hot form in Newcastle last week whilst his quarter-final loss on night two came despite recording a 104.21 average.
Luke Littler v Michael Smith
Littler and Smith currently sit third and second respectively in the Premier League table after four nights but strangely it doesn’t feel like either player has quite been at their best. Michael Smith won overall on night one but has lost back-to-back winnable quarter-finals against Rob Cross and Nathan Aspinall.
Luke Littler is threatening to live up to the hype in this year’s Premier League and a bit more luck will see him really take off in the tournament. Littler has lost four of his eight matches played so far in the Premier League but all four losses came by the same narrow 6-5 scoreline.
