Barry Hill - Friday Treble Maker

Resident Tipster Barry Hill gives us a tasty little treble for todays racing from Leicester and Dundalk.

15.50 Leicester - Montgomery 5/6

J Sirrell 40 Cup Handicap Chase

MONTGOMERY seemed way ahead of the competition when making a triumphant return to the chase scene, along with a smashing debut for the stable at Bangor. Tackling a 3-mile course on heavy ground, this contender left a rival, who was in top form, trailing in the dust last week. With a 7lb penalty tacked on for that win (and a looming 10lb increase on the horizon), this racer still looks like the one to beat. Even with the extra weight to lug around, their previous performance suggests they're set to dominate once again.

17.15 Dundalk - Posh Maisie 4/1

Mourne Windows & Doors Claiming Race

POSH MASIE looks like the one to watch in this 7f claiming race, which isn't exactly packed with winners, except for Bruce Lightning who nabbed a win in a 6f handicap not too long ago. If Rory Mulligan wasn't claiming his 10lb allowance, Posh Maisie and Bruce Lightning would be neck and neck. But thanks to Mulligan’s claim, Posh Maisie gets a handy 5lb from Bruce Lightning. And to be honest, Bruce Lightning doesn't seem all that scary, especially with his new rating of 74.

On her first day out, Posh Maisie wasn’t exactly quick off the mark, but that race turned out to be a good one, with several winners coming out of it. Trained by Johnny Murtagh, this Dandy Man filly showed she's got potential, finishing third behind the top picks in a race right here over the same distance last month. And the form looks solid too, with Pepper Noir, who finished just ahead of her, winning a mile maiden race a bit later. Looks like Posh Maisie could be about to follow in their footsteps.

18.15 Dundalk - Sir Sagacious 2/1

Ross Clair Maiden

Al Mudhaffar and SIR SAGACIOUS are both hitting the scene with pretty good first impressions for this mile maiden race for three-year-olds. They both snagged second place in their first races at this track last month. Al Mudhaffar was the hot favourite to win on his first go for Joseph O'Brien, who's been on fire in Dundalk since the start of 2024. But, he just couldn’t get past Badda Bing. Though he's tipped to step up his game with that run under his belt, it seems like Sir Sagacious might just have the edge in terms of upping his game.

Sir Sagacious went head-to-head with a previous winner, Take Me To Church, in his first outing over 7f. The winner of that race has a turf rating of 86, which is pretty respectable, and under the guidance of Willie Browne, Sir Sagacious looked like he was just getting started, finishing strong under Seamie Heffernan to grab second place. Plus, the way he powered through the end makes it look like stretching out to a mile could really play to his strengths, especially considering he outpaced Al Mudhaffar’s well-backed stablemate, Emerald Eclipse.
