Favourite Nick Rockett, at odds of 7-2 with Unibet, could be one of Willie Mullins' three entries in the esteemed race.
All the top contenders, including the leading favourite Nick Rockett, are still in the running for the BoyleSports Irish Grand National at 5:00 on Easter Monday, with 26 horses confirmed currently.
Nick Rockett, with odds of 7-2 from Unibet, could be one of Willie Mullins' three entries in the esteemed race. The seven-year-old was last seen securing second place behind American Mike in a Navan Grade 2 race last month.
Mullins might also bring Grade 1 victor Minella Cocooner and We'llhavewan to the event, aiming for his third victory in the past five editions, following wins with Burrows Saint in 2019 and I Am Maximus last year.
Other notable competitors include Intense Raffles, awaiting a new jockey after Daryl Jacob's collarbone injury, and Desertmore House. Hartur D'Arc, the Leinster National champion, and Yeah Man, the Haydock Grand National Trial victor, are also highly regarded and could represent Gavin Cromwell.
Gordon Elliott could enter up to nine horses, among them Grade 2 champion Favori De Champdou. Where It All Began, who won impressively at Punchestown before placing fourth in the Kim Muir, is also in the mix as part of Elliott's strong squad.
Henry de Bromhead may enter only the promising novice Senior Chief, while the well-loved veteran Any Second Now is still a contender for Ted Walsh.
At 12 years old, Any Second Now, having been a consistent performer in the Aintree Grand National, is now priced at 12-1 for the Irish version, significantly shorter than the earlier 40-1 odds. Seven horses were withdrawn at this stage, including Ontheropes and Tullybeg among others.
Additionally, the gifted Sir Gerhard is set to recover from a lackluster showing at the Cheltenham Festival in the Rathbarry & Glenview Studs Hurdle at 3:50. Despite finishing last in the Stayers' Hurdle, the nine-year-old is entered in the 2m4f Grade 2 race alongside stablemates Zarak The Brave and Asterion Forlonge, with Brewin'upastorm as an intriguing British entry by Olly Murphy.
The Grade 2m juvenile hurdle at 2:40 may see British representation through Harry Derham's Givemefive, among 12 entries. The 2m3½f Grade 2 Chase at 4:20 has eight entries, including Appreciate It and the Galway Plate winner Ash Tree Meadow.
