Norwich City v Plymouth Argyle
Norwich City to win - 5/12
Norwich City currently occupy the final play-off spot and on Friday they host a Plymouth Argyle side that now find themselves in a relegation battle. Norwich City are unbeaten at home since November 5th and go into Friday’s match against Plymouth on the back of six straight home league wins. Meanwhile, Plymouth Argyle have one of the division’s worst away records with just two wins on the road all season and they head to Carrow Road winless in four matches.
Blackburn Rovers v Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town to win - 10/11
Blackburn Rovers are just three points outside of the relegation zone following a run of eight league games without a win. On Friday they’ll host an Ipswich Town side in with a real chance of automatic promotions and boasting one of the Championship’s best away records. Ipswich Town have won seven of their last eight league games and eased to a 6-0 win at home to Sheffield Wednesday just before the international break.
Peterborough United v Carlisle United
Peterborough United to win - 1/4
Carlisle United came agonisingly close to a first league win in six matches last time out but were subsequently held to a 2-2 draw after conceding a 96th minute equaliser at home to Stevenage. Unfortunately, their winless run is likely to go on for at least one more match as they travel to high-flying Peterborough United on Friday. The Posh are still in with a real chance of automatic promotion despite losing 1-0 at home to league leaders, Portsmouth before the international break.
Stevenage v Bolton Wanderers
Bolton Wanderers to win - 5/4
Stevenage’s one time promotion challenge now looks a distant memory after a disastrous run of results has seen them slip out of the top six. A last-gasp equaliser saw them take a point from bottom club, Carlisle United last weekend but they have now failed to win any of their past five league games. Stevenage manager, Steve Evans will miss the Easter weekend double-header after his touchline ban was extended by a further to matches.
Bolton Wanderers travel to Stevenage on Friday with real aspirations of automatic promotion however they went down 1-0 at Derby County in their promotion six-pointer last time out and cannot afford to drop any more points over the Bank Holiday weekend. Bolton Wanderers have a solid record on the road whilst Stevenage’s home record has been their Achilles heel at times this season.
Forest Green Rovers v Stockport County
Stockport County to win - 1/2
Two of the top three meet in League Two on Friday as Wrexham host Mansfield Town at the Racecourse. Given at least one of those clubs will now drop points, the side best-placed to capitalise on this is second-placed Stockport County. Stockport County blew away promotion rivals, MK Dons in their last game, winning 5-0 at home last weekend.
Friday’s hosts, Forest Green Rovers were handed a major blow in their hopes of avoiding the drop by losing back-to-back games against Sutton United (1-0) and Doncaster Rovers (2-0). Whilst they may be fighting for their Football League survival, they will find Stockport County too much this weekend.
