Liverpool host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Sunday hoping to crank up the pressure on title rivals, Manchester City and Arsenal. A win at Anfield in the first of two Premier League fixtures taking place on Sunday afternoon will see Liverpool open up a three-point lead at the top of the table before Manchester City host Arsenal later that afternoon. On what could prove to be a crucial weekend in the Premier League title race, we will offer the latest team news, match insights and expert betting tips as well as generous match odds and free bet offers from our partners at Betfair.
Form
Liverpool are second in the Premier League on goal difference only having earned 64 points from 28 matches so far. Liverpool drew 1-1 at home to Manchester City in their last Premier League game to end a four-game winning streak in the league. Liverpool are unbeaten in the league at Anfield and have not lost a home game in any competition in 31 matches.
Visitors, Brighton & Hove Albion are still in the hunt for European qualification having taken 42 points from their 28 matches. The Seagulls sit eighth in the Premier League table and won their first league game in three at home to Nottingham Forest before the international break.
Liverpool v Brighton & Hove Albion: Head-to-Head
Liverpool have failed to win any of their last four matches against Brighton & Hove Albion, losing two and drawing two. The Reds have only won one of the last eight matches between the sides. Each of Brightonโs last two trips to Anfield have produced entertaining high-scoring draws with the corresponding fixture last season ending 3-3.
The reverse fixture at the Amex earlier this season ended in a 2-2 draw. Simon Adingra and Lewis Dunk scored for Brighton either side of a Mohamed Salah brace.
Betting Tips
Whilst weโre expecting Liverpool to win on Sunday, Brightonโs excellent record at Anfield cannot be ignored and Liverpool just look too short to back to win at 3/10. We do however like the look of over 3.5 match goals at 20/23. The two sides shared six goals in this fixture last season and Liverpool are without a clean sheet in the league at Anfield since mid-December.
Mohamed Salah has not completed a full 90 minutes in the Premier League since New Yearโs Day but has scored in successive cup games against both Sparta Prague and Manchester United. Salah scored twice in the reverse fixture and will be a hugely popular option in the various goalscorer markets.
Here are some Mohamed Salah-related markets to consider:
Mohamed Salah Goalscorer Specials | Odds |
---|---|
Anytime goalscorer | 5/6 |
First goalscorer | 7/2 |
Last goalscorer | 7/2 |
To score 2 or more | 4/1 |
To score a hat-trick | 19/1 |
To score in both halves | 15/2 |
Lewis Dunk has scored in successive matches against Liverpool and was also on target against both Crystal Palace and Everton last month. At 13/1, Dunk is definitely worth considering in the anytime goalscorer market.
