Night ten of the Premier League will be staged at Manchester’s AO Arena on Thursday with the league table starting to take shape. As we look ahead to another exciting night of top-class darts here at betting.bet we’ll preview all four quarter final matches, including the latest odds from tournament sponsors, BetMGM.
Nathan Aspinall v Rob Cross
Nathan Aspinall is one of the Premier League’s most in-form players having reached two finals in the past three weeks. The Stockport lad will want to put on a performance in front of his local crowd in Manchester and has already defeated Rob Cross four times in this year's Premier League. Cross has lost three straight quarter-final matches, including back-to-back losses at the hands of Aspinall.
Predicted Winner: Nathan Aspinall
Luke Littler v Michael van Gerwen
Luke Littler finally claimed his first overall night win last week as he put in a sensational performance in Belfast. Littler recorded wins over Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall on his way to a deserved triumph. This week’s quarter-final opponent, Michael van Gerwen has endured a tough time since earning three successive Premier League wins between nights two and four and has now been dislodged as league leader. MVG won his first quarter-final in five weeks in Belfast and could now be set for another Premier League purple patch. Littler and MVG have met four times in the Premier League, claiming two wins apiece.
Predicted Winner: Michael van Gerwen
Michael Smith v Luke Humphries
Luke Humphies remains top of the Premier League despite losing in last week’s opening quarter-final. The world number one has been in sensational form and won three straight weeks between nights six and eight. On Thursday he’ll take on a Michael Smith teetering on the edge of the top four. Smith has been consistently inconsistent in recent weeks with a record of two quarter-final defeats and two final appearances in the last four weeks.
Smith lost his quarter-final in Belfast despite recording a 101.31 average. Humphries and Smith have met three times in the Premier League this year, including finals in Brighton and Dublin. Luke Humphries has won all three head-to-head meetings but we feel that this could be the week that Bully Boy turns the tables back home in the north west.
Predicted Winner: Michael Smith
Gerwyn Price v Peter Wright
The bottom two meet in the final quarter-final of the evening in a match that should all but end the play-off hopes of the loser. Gerwyn Price has won just one match in the past six weeks despite boasting the fourth highest average in the Premier League, he has missed several key doubles and this is where the match will be won or lost. If Price fails to land his checkouts consistently he could open the door for Wright, just as he did in Nottingham.
Predicted Winner: Gerwyn Price
