Atletico Madrid take a narrow 2-1 lead into the second leg of their Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund but it is all still to play for. Neither club have quite been at their best this season with Atletico Madrid sitting fourth in La Liga, 17 points off leaders and rivals, Real Madrid. Meanwhile in Germany, Borussia Dortmund are a lowly fifth and trail newly-crowned German champions, Bayer Leverkusen by a whopping 23 points.
Atletico Madrid have failed to keep a clean sheet in ten straight matches in all competitions whilst Borussia Dortmund have scored 2 or more in all six home matches played in 2024. If Atletico Madrid are to progress they’re likely to need a couple of goals, at least which makes over 2.5 match goals a reasonable proposition but we’re siding with the hosts to overturn the first leg deficit in front of the famous ‘yellow wall’.
