The three tiers of the English Football League are all finely poised with the battles for league titles, promotion and relegation all still to play for throughout the three divisions. On Tuesday evening there are 13 matches taking place across the Championship, League One and League Two and if you’re betting on football this evening then you’ll be pleased to hear that here at Betting.Bet we’ve hand-picked some potential winners. This evening’s football odds are provided by BoyleSports.

Southampton v Preston North End

Southampton to win - 1/3

As the leading three continue to stutter, Southampton have become real dark horses to pinch one of the two automatic promotion spots in the Sky Bet Championship. On Tuesday evening they host a Preston North End side hoping to keep their slim play-off hopes alive.

Southampton head into Tuesday’s fixture with just one defeat in seven matches whilst Preston North End have won just one of their last four.

Bolton Wanderers v Shrewsbury Town

Bolton Wanderers to win - 2/7

Bolton Wanderers can move to within a single point of the automatic promotion places in League One if they can earn all three points at home to a Shrewsbury Town side that have failed to win any of their last four league games.

Bolton Wanderers have lost just one of their nine league games but unfortuantely for the Trotters that solitary defeat was against a Derby County side immediately above them in second.

Oxford United v Lincoln City

Draw - 5/2

There’s a huge play-off six-pointer at the Kassam Stadium as sixth placed Oxford United host eight placed Lincoln City on Tuesday evening. The two sides head into the crucial fixture separated by five points and a win for Oxford United not only all-but-guarantees them a place in the end of season play-offs but it will make it mathematically impossible for Lincoln City to finish in the top six.

In a match neither team can afford to lose, a draw seems a reasonable expectation. Only Charlton Athletic have drawn more games than Lincoln City (14) in League One this season whilst Oxford United have also hit double-figures for draws with ten stalemates already.

Colchester United v Grimsby Town

Colchester United to win - 11/10

Colchester United took a giant step towards preserving their Football League status at the weekend as a shock win over play-off hopefuls, Crawley Town saw them leapfrog Sutton United and move out of the relegation zone. On Tuesday they can open up a four-point gap over the bottom two against fellow strugglers, Grimsby Town. Grimsby Town have won two of their last three matches but with their own safety now more or less assured they would be forgiven for taking their foot off the gas slightly on Tuesday evening.

Mansfield Town v Accrington Stanley

Mansfield Town to win - 1/3

Stockport County and Wrexham have already clinched two of the three automatic promotion places in League Two and Mansfield Town can wrap up the third and final top three spot on Tuesday evening. Whilst a draw is likely to be sufficient to see Mansfield Town play in League One next season they’ll want to leave nothing to chance at home to an Accrington Stanley side with just one win in six that lost 4-0 at Doncaster Rovers at the weekend.

Football League Acca Odds - 15.8/1

  • Southampton to win
  • Bolton Wanderers to win
  • Oxford United & Lincoln City to draw
  • Colchester United to win
  • Mansfield Town to win
