Garcia Misses Weight, But the Fight Will Go On!

According to Devin Haney, who shared on social media, Garcia exceeded the weight limit and adhered to their agreement of paying $500,000 for each pound over, totaling $1.5 million from Garcia to Haney.

Ryan Garcia reportedly came in three pounds over the limit at the official weigh-in for his upcoming fight against Devin Haney this Saturday, but the bout will proceed as planned.

According to Devin Haney, who shared on social media, Garcia exceeded the weight limit and adhered to their agreement of paying $500,000 for each pound over, totalling $1.5 million from Garcia to Haney.

Golden Boy Promotions confirmed that Garcia did not meet the weight requirement and respected the agreement made during the press conference the day before. Haney successfully made the weight after stripping down.

The discrepancy occurred during the official weigh-in, separate from the ceremonial event for public viewing and live streaming.

The situation has seemingly diminished the event's significance and momentum, casting it as somewhat of an embarrassment to boxing and the event promoters. This was only intensified as Garcia chugged a bottle of beer at the weigh-in.

But, who will clinch the win on Saturday night? Boxing online betting odds put Haney as the favourite.

Why did Garcia not make weight?
