Bayern Munich and Real Madrid meet on Tuesday evening in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final. The two European giants are bidding for a place in next month’s final at Wembley Stadium and ahead of their showdown in Germany we’ll offer the latest team news, expert betting tips and match insights as well as the latest match odds and free bet offers courtesy of our betting partners at Ladbrokes.
Road To The Semi-Final
Both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid reached the last four at the expense of English opposition. Bayern Munich earned a 3-2 aggregate win over Arsenal whilst Real Madrid eliminated holders, Manchester City via a penalty shootout.
Earlier in the tournament, Bayern Munich had topped a group consisting of FC Copenhagen, Galatasaray and Manchester United, earning 16 points from a possible 18 in Group A before defeating Lazio and Arsenal in the knockout stage.
Real Madrid were one of just two sides to come through the group stage with a 100% record. The 14-time European champions won home and away against Napoli, Braga and Union Berlin. In the round of 16 they edged past RB Leipzig 2-1 on aggregate.
Domestic Form
Bayern Munich’s long reign as German champions is over after failing to win the Bundesliga title for the first time since 2012. Bayer Leverkusen were crowned champions of Germany and remain on course to go through the entire season unbeaten. Bayern Munich have won three straight league games and sit second in the Bundesliga with 69 points from 31 matches.
Real Madrid are on course to regain the La Liga title having opened up a 13-point lead at the summit. Real Madrid twice came from behind to defeat Barcelona last weekend and are now unbeaten in 18 matches in all competitions.
Betting Tips
Real Madrid are favourites to progress to next month’s UEFA Champions League final but Bayern Munich have an excellent record at the Allianz Arena and will need to get their noses in front in the first leg if they are to have any chance of progressing. Tuesday’s fixture will be incredibly competitive and both teams to score looks a shrewd bet at 8/15.
Bayern Munich’s England forward, Harry Kane is enjoying an excellent first season in Bavaria and has netted seven times already in the Champions League this season. At Real Madrid, Kane’s international teammate, Jude Bellingham has often proved the match winner this season and both players will prove hugely popular in the various goalscorer markets. Here are several markets worth consideration.
