Form

Brighton earned a 1-1 draw away at Newcastle United at the weekend to move above AFC Bournemouth and into the top half of the Premier League. The Seagulls have taken 48 points from 36 matches however they now have just one win in their past eight league games.

Chelsea have ended the season strongly with a run of three consecutive wins enough to move them into the European qualification places. The Blues are seventh in the league with 57 points from 36 matches and their 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest on Sunday extended their record to just one defeat in 13 matches.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Chelsea: Head-to-Head

Chelsea earned a 3-2 win in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge thanks to an Enzo Fernandez brace either side of a goal from former Brighton loanee, Levi Colwill. Facundo Buonanotte and Joao Pedro were on target for Brignton.

In the corresponding fixture played at the Amex last season Brighton ran out comfortable 4-1 winners en route to completing a league double over the Londoners. Those back-to-back wins last season are Brighton’s only two victories over Chelsea since winning their first ever meeting in 1933.

Betting Tips

Chelsea are one of the Premier League’s most in-form teams and as they hope to consolidate their top seven place, they look good value for the win at Evens. The Blues are rapidly becoming one of the league’s most entertaining sides to watch and their 13 league games since the beginning of March have produced an average of just under four goals per game. Over 3.5 match goals on Wednesday is an attractive proposition at 19/20 whilst over 2.5 match goals seems a certainty at 4/11.

Nicholas Jackson is in red-hot form in front of goal for Chelsea, scoring four goals in their last three matches. The Senegal international is priced at 6/4 to score at any time on Wednesday. However, given that Jackson has scored the final goal in each of the last three league games he’s been involved in, there is arguably better value in backing him to be the game’s last goalscorer at odds of 11/2.
