French Open: Men’s Singles Semi-Final - Preview & Odds
Here at betting.bet we’ll preview both matches, providing form, match insights, betting tips and the latest match and outright odds
The men’s singles tournament at Roland Garros reaches the semi-final stage on Friday and the competition remains wide-open. Ahead of the French Open semi-final double-header, here at betting.bet we’ll preview both matches, providing form, match insights, betting tips and the latest match and outright odds from our partners at Betfred.
Carlos Alcaraz (3) v Jannik Sinner (2)
Jannik Sinner is already assured of number one spot in the world rankings but the Italian is eyeing a second straight Grand Slam title having won the Australian Open earlier this year. Sinner earned a straight sets quarter-final win over Grigor Dmitrov earlier this week to reach his first ever French Open semi-final.
The 22-year-old has been near perfect at Roland Garros, dropping just one set in his five matches so far. However the Italian had struggled for fitness coming into the tournament, withdrawing from three straight competitions since reaching the semi-final of the Monte-Carlo Masters back in early April.
Standing in Sinner’s way is two-time Grand Slam winner, Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard has reached the semi-final of the French Open for the first time but like his opponent, Alcaraz’s French Open preparations were hindered by injury. Alcaraz missed the Monte-Carlo Masters, Barcelona Open and Italian Open.
Carlos Alcaraz has also dropped just one single set so far in this year’s French Open, defeating qualifier Jesper de Jong in four sets in round two. Subsequent straight set wins over Sebastian Korda, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Stefanos Tsitsipas have eased any concerns over his troublesome right forearm.
The two hottest young talents in tennis have already met on eight occasions and boast four wins apiece. Friday’s semi-final is impossibly difficult to call but given that Sinner won in straight sets on their only previous meeting on clay (2022 Croatia Open Final), we’re are leaning towards the Italian.

Casper Ruud (7) v Alexander Zverev (4)
Casper Ruud was the beneficiary of Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal from the French Open. The Norweigan seventh seed was handed a quarter-final walkover after a knee injury saw the defending champion surrender his French Open title. Whilst Djokovic now faces a race to be fit for Wimbledon, Casper Ruud’s attention turns towards Friday’s semi-final against fourth seed Alexander Zverev. Ruud will appreciate the extra rest he’s been handed since defeating American Taylor Fritz in round four.
Caper Ruud has already won two ATP Tour titles on clay this year, firstly winning the Barcelona Open in April before winning the Geneva Open a week before the start of the French Open.
Opponent Alexander Zverev came through a gruelling five set round four match against Holger Rune before winning in straight sets against Alex de Minaur in the quarter-final late on Wednesday evening. Zverev has lost at this stage of the French Open in three successive years and we feel this may be the end of the road for the German once again on Friday.
Ruud and Zverev have faced off on four previous occasions, sharing two wins apiece however the most notable match shared between these two rivals came at the same stage of last year’s French Open. Casper Rudd charged to a straight set win at Roland Garros (6-3 6-4 6-0) last year and we’re backing the 25-year-old to reach a third straight French Open final.
