Neptune Legend was far better than his finishing position suggested last time out as he was very slow away and hit traffic one furlong from home. Winner back in autumn in first-time blinkers and he will run in blinkers again on Friday. Trainer Tony Carroll had one runner yesterday, winning a strong looking handicap at Haydock with an SP of 16/1.

British Stallion Studs EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes (GBB Race)
MISTER MCGREGOR - 4/1
Amongst the favourites for the second leg of our Placepot but we cannot look past Mister Mcgregor in this. Solid second on debut at Salisbury a couple of weeks ago and should kick on on Friday evening. Nicely drawn in stall 5.

Betting.Bet Live Racing Results Handicap
SARAH’S VERSE - 7/2
Something of a course specialist, Sarah’s Verse has six wins at Bath already to her name albeit she is now 8lbs higher than when winning here last month. Would’ve appreciated a bit of rain overnight but remains the pick of the bunch in the Betting.Bet Live Racing Results Handicap. Beyond Equal has received plenty of market support overnight, the nine-year-old has not won for three years but has shortened from 6/1 to 11/4.

Betting.Bet Free Horse Racing Tips Handicap
WHISPERING ROYAL - 6/1
Russian Rumour made a winning return to the track at Nottingham last time out and is only 2lbs higher than that effort last month. He should be right in the mix but preference is for Whispering Royal. Dual-purpose sort that still looks unexposed on the flat. Steps up in trip on Friday but has won a maiden hurdle over two miles.

Betting.Bet Horseracing Odds Handicap
CRACKER STAR - 7/2
Friday’s Placepot only pays out for the first two in the fifth leg and we have two well-supported joint-favourites in Almudena and Aulis (15/8). However, we’re expecting at least one of the leading pair to struggle. Almudena’s previous three runs have all been over 7f or 1m but she looks much better suited to Friday’s 1m3f. Aulis has failed to finish in the top two in his previous five races. Cracker Star looks the best of the rest and has finished second in all three races this year. A neck ahead of Aulis at Salisbury last time out but a slight question mark over the firmer ground.

BLUE HERO - 11/2
The final leg of our Placepot and we’re opting for course specialist, Blue Hero. Seven career wins have all come at Bath and he now runs off his lowest mark for some time. The last of his four wins at Bath last summer came off 8lbs higher over Friday’s 1m2f trip. Behind Jimmy Mark and Uther Pendragon last time out but capable of reversing those places.
