Sunderland Next Manager Odds

Who is the favourite to be the next manager of Sunderland?

Sunderland have been without a permanent manager since the departure of Michael Beale in February. Since the Black Cats' hierarchy made the controversial decision to sack manager Tony Mowbray in December 2023, the Championship side has struggled to find the right person for the job.

In February 2024, former Rangers manager Michael Beale was brought in to relieve interim manager Mike Dodds from his duties, but the Englishman only lasted 12 games as he suffered the same fate as his predecessor. After finishing just six points above the relegation zone this season, there is a sense of urgency at Wearside to steady the ship and find a permanent fixture.

AZ Alkmaar manager Pascal Jansen has emerged as the favourite for the position and 32Red Sport have the Dutchman at odds of 4/1 to fill the role. We have a selection of best football odds on our football betting page but check out odds for all the contenders for the Sunderland Role below:

Who is the Favourite to be the Next Manager of Sunderland?

One name that was getting a lot of attention a month ago was former Reims manager Will Still, who has been linked with Sunderland numerous times in the past. Still took charge of the French side at just 30 years of age, quickly becoming a popular figure in the media. His comments about his love for the video game Football Manager, along with the fact that he didn't have a UEFA Pro Licence for coaching, added to his intrigue.

The Black Cats reportedly attempted to make him Mowbray's replacement in December 2023 but couldn't come to an agreement. He came back into the picture at the conclusion of the season, but it seems the young Englishman has recently been lured away with a chance to manage Lens. He remains a 5/1 chance for the Sunderland job at William Hill.

The man who has emerged as the favourite is former AZ Alkmaar manager Pascal Jansen. Jansen has previously managed at PSV's youth sides between 2013 and 2017 before becoming AZ Alkmaar's assistant manager, where he was soon promoted to the senior position. The Dutchman spent four years at the club and achieved an impressive 56% win rate during his 162 matches in charge. It is reported that Sunderland have serious interest in bringing him to the Stadium of Light.

Still is just 31 however highly regarded by his peers and is second favourite to bag the Sunderland job.
