Group A Recap
Germany sit on top of Group A with a perfect record of six points from their opening two matches. The Euro 2024 hosts eased to a 5-1 win against Scotland in the opening match of the tournament before following up with an equally convincing 2-0 win against Hungary on Wednesday.
Jamal Musiala scored his second goal of the competition on Wednesday before captain Ilkay Gundogan sealed the win for the hosts against Hungary.
Switzerland have earned four points from their first two matches as they followed up their opening weekend win over Hungary by playing out a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Scotland on Wednesday. Xherdan Shaqiri scored for the Swiss in Wednesday, cancelling out Scott McTominay’s early opener.
Team News
Germany are likely to name an unchanged side with Kai Havertz retaining his place alongside Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz in attack. However, with both Antonio Rudiger and Jonathan Tah one booking away from suspension, a change at central defence may be considered.
Whilst not yet ready to start, Denis Zakaria should now be fit enough for a place amongst the substitutes for Switzerland. Breel Embolo could also be named on the bench for Switzerland as he continues to build his match fitness at the end of an injury disrupted season. However there are suggestions that the 27-year-old will be risked from the start on Sunday.
