Albania and Spain meet on Monday in their final group match at Euro 2024. There is still plenty to play for in Dusseldorf despite Spain having top spot in Group B wrapped up already as Albania retain a real chance of progressing to the knockout stage. Group Stage Recap
Albania were given no hope of escaping the ‘Group of Death’ after being drawn in Group B alongside the three highest-placed finishers in last year’s UEFA Nations League. However, Albania will count themselves unfportunate to only have one point on the board after their first two matches.
Albania took the lead against both Italy and Croatia but were pegged back in both matches. However, whilst their match against Italy ended in a 2-1 win for the Italians, Albania did snatch a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Croatia.
Spain boast a perfect record after two matches and are one of only three nations yet to conced a goal at this summer’s European Championships. The three-time winners kicked off their tournament with a comprehensive 3-0 win against Croatia before earning a hard-fought 1-0 win against holders Italy. Spain had 20 shots on goal against Italy but it took a Riccardo Calafiori own-goal to finally breach the Italian defence.
Team News
Albania have no injury or fitness concerns but Sylvinho may have a decision to make around five Albanian players one booking away from suspension. A yellow card for Elseid Hysaj, Arber Hoxha, Armando Broja, Mirlind Daku or Klaus Gjasula would see them miss any potential round of 16 fixture.
With top spot in Group B already assured, Spain are likely to ring the changes on Monday. Rodri will sit out the final group game as he serves a one-game suspension but there may be further changes in the offing for the group winners. Martin Zubimendi is likely to deputise for Rodri and could be joined in the starting XI by the likes of Mikel Oyarzabal, Ferran Torres and Alejandro Grimaldo.

Betting Tips
Spain would be forgiven for taking their foot off the gas in the final group game and although several fringe players will be hoping to play their way into the starting lineup for next Sunday’s round of 16 fixture, this could offer Albania an excellent opportunity to sneak into the knockout stage. Albania are a huge 13/2 to win in Dusseldorf. Albania/Draw in the ‘Double Chance’ market may prove to be the wisest bet of the weekend at odds of 15/8.
Rey Manaj continues to be preferred to Chelsea’s in-demand forward Armando Broja in attack for Albania on the back of a successful season in the Turkish Super Lig. Manaj netted 14 times in 24 matches for Sivasspor but is yet to score so far at Euro 2024. Manaj is excellent value at 15/4 to score at any time on Monday. However, given that Albania raced out of the blocks to score early against both Italy and Croatia, the 9/1 on offer for Manaj to score first could prove greater value.
As mentioned, Albania have scored early in both matches so far as they went ahead within a minute against Italy and took just 11 minutes to take the lead against Croatia. On Monday they can be backed at 7/1 to score within the first 15 minutes.
