Euro 2024: Denmark v Serbia - Match Preview & Odds

Denmark and Serbia meet in Munich on Tuesday evening in a crucial Group C fixture at Euro 2024. Both nations retain a real chance of progressing beyond the group stage in what has proved to be one of the tightest groups at this summer’s European Championships. Looking ahead to this key fixture you can find up to date team news, match insights and exclusive free bets as well as the latest match odds and free bet offers from our partners at Betway.

Group C Finely Poised

Just three points separate all four nations in Group C at Euro 2024 following two nervy rounds of matches that have failed to produce too many goals. Denmark kicked off their tournament with a 1-1 draw against Slovenia before their match against England produced the same scoreline. England took the lead against Denmark through Harry Kane but the Danes hit back through a superb 25-yard strike from Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hjulmand.

Euro 2024 highlights: Denmark 1-1 England

Serbia were unfortunate not to get anything out of their tournament opener against England. Following England’s early goal Serbia were arguably the better side for at least an hour in Gelsenkirchen. The Serbs certainly had luck on their side last Thursday as Luka Jovic stepped off the bench to steal a 1-1 draw against Slovenia in the 95th minute.

Team News

Denmark’s squad has a clean bill of health following the news that Sevilla’s Thomas Delaney is fit and ready to play. However, Delaney is likely to be named amongst the substitutes due to the form of both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Thursday’s goalscorer Morten Hjulmand. Victor Kristiansen was replaced by Benfica’s Alexander Bah just before the hour against England and Bah may get the nod to start at wing-back on Tuesday.

Dusan Tadic came into the Serbian starting XI for the game against Slovenia and whilst that was widely expected, few expected Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to be the man to make way. Milinkovic-Savic should return to the starting XI on Tuesday but he’s likely to step in to replace Dusan Vlahovic as his partnership with Aleksandar Mitrovic just simply isn’t working.

Possible Line Ups

Denmark: Schmeichel, Andersen, Christensen, Vestergaard, Bah, Hojbjerg, Hjulmand, Maehle, Eriksen, Hojlund, Wind

Serbia: Rajkovic, Veljkovic, Pavlovic, Milenkovic, Zivkovic, Ilic, Lukic, Mladenovic, Tadic, Milinkovic-Savic, Mitrovic

Betting Tips

Each match in Group C has been an incredibly tight affair, highlighted by the match betting for this fixture. On paper, Denmark look a slightly better side and we’re happy to tip them to take all three points from their final group game at odds of 5/4.

Including friendly matches, both teams have scored in each of Denmark’s four internationals played this month whilst Serbia know that only a win on Tuesday is likely to be enough to see them progress beyond the group stage. We should be treated to a far more open fixture than any other Group C fixture played up to now. Both teams to score looks massively overpriced at 7/10 whilst over 2.5 match goals looks solid at odds of 17/20.

You can also boost your winnings further by combining a couple of the bets mentioned above. Denmark to win and both teams to score is available at 16/5 whilst Denmark to win and over 2.5 match goals is similarly priced at odds of 12/5.

If we get the expansive match we’re hoping for in Munich on Tuesday then there are a couple of real standout options in the goalscorer markets worth consideration. Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund has 7 goals in 16 internationals for Denmark and arrived in Germany on the back of the most prolific domestic season of his club career. Meanwhile, at the other end of the pitch, Aleksandar Mitrovic’s return of 58 goals in 93 internationals is a record that stands up against almost anyone. Neither Hojlund or Mitrovic have scored in Germany so far this summer but have a real chance of getting off the mark on Tuesday. Below are some of the markets to be given some real consideration ahead of Denmark v Serbia.
