Both nations are assured of a top three finish in Group D and may have already accumulated enough points to see them through to the last-16. Group D Recap
Netherlands sit top of Group D having followed up their 2-1 win over Poland on the opening weekend by playing out a 0-0 draw against France on Friday evening. Whilst the Dutch are on course to progress to the knockout stage, they could’ve been in a far more comfortable position if Xavi Simons did not have a goal controversially ruled out for offside against France.
Austria are just a single point behind Netherlands and France in Group D thanks to a dominant performance against Poland last Thursday. Austria were unfortunate to come away with nothing from their opening match against France but hit back by easing to a 3-1 win over Poland thanks to goals by Gernot Trauner, Christoph Baumgartner and Marko Arnautovic.
Team News
Dutch central midfielders Joey Veerman and Jerdy Schouten are both one booking away from a suspension which could see one or both drop down to the bench on Tuesday. Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch and Georginio Wijnaldum are in contention to replace the PSV Eindhoven duo against Austria.
Gernot Trauner limped out of the win over Poland to be replaced by Kevin Danso. Danso had started Austria’s opening game against France and may come back into the Austrian starting XI on Tuesday. Marko Arnautovic was another to be promoted to the starting line up for the win against Poland and having impressed throughout, Austria’s all-time record goalscorer is likely to retain his starting berth at the expense of Michael Gregoritsch.

Betting Tips
Austria have really impressed under Ralf Ragnick and would count themselves really unfortunate if they were to exit Euro 2024 at the group stage. A draw should see the Austrians through to the knockout stage whilst a share of the spoils would also guarantee the Netherlands a top-two finish. Backing the draw on Tuesday could be a wise option at 2/1.
Group D has been one of the more entertaining groups but with the knockout stage matches set to get underway as soon as Saturday, players involved on Tuesday would be forgiven for not over-exerting themselves. Under 2.5 match goals should be given real consideration at odds of 17/20 whilst we like the 7/4 on offer for the game to be goalless at halt-time.
Wout Weghorst is chomping at the bit for a starting berth for the Netherlands and Cody Gakpo has to remain amongst the goals if he is to retain his place in the Dutch starting XI. Gakpo scored the Netherlands’ equaliser in the win over Poland on match day one and the Liverpool forward is priced at 2/1 to score at any time in his team’s final group game. As goals are expected to be sparse on Tuesday, backing Gakpo to score first at 11/2 probably offers better value for money.
