Slovakia & Romania: Euro 2024 Form
Slovakia made a dream start to Euro 2024 as they pulled off a shock 1-0 win against Belgium in their opening match. Ivan Schranz, the match winner against Belgium also scored early in Slovakia’s second game but on this occasion they were unable to hold onto the lead as Ukraine hit back in the second half through Mykola Shaparenko and Roman Yaremchuk to win 2-1 in Dusseldorf.
Romania raced to the top of Group F thanks to a clinical 3-0 over Ukraine in their group opener. However, on match day two Romania were brought back down to earth as Youri Tielemens and Kevin de Bruyne scored in a 2-0 Belgium win.
All four nations go into the final match level on 3 points with the group rankings currently decided by goal difference and goals scored. Below is the Group F table after two matches.
Position | Nation | W / D / L | Points | Goals For / Against | Goal Difference |
---|---|---|---|---|---|

Team News
Slovakia have a clean bill of health throughout their squad and could name an unchanged starting XI for the third straight group game. Ivan Schranz is the competition’s joint-highest goalscorer and should once again be named in a three-man attack alongside Lukas Haraslin and Robert Bozenik.
Romania drafted Valentin Mihaila into their starting XI for the defeat against Belgium but the Parma midfielder was himself replaced by Ianis Hagi just after the hour mark. Hagi has played the final 30 minutes of both group games so far and the 25-year-old could be promoted to the starting line up on Wednesday.
Possible Line Ups
Slovakia: Dubravka, Pekarik, Vavro, Skriniar, Hancko, Kucka, Lobotka, Duda, Schranz, Bozeník, Haraslin
Romania: Nita, Ratiu, Dragusin, Burca, Bancu, R Marin, M Marin, Stanciu, Man, Hagi, Dragus
Betting Tips
A draw will be enough to send both of these nations through to the knockout stage and this could be a solid betting option at 11/10. There has been a goal scored within the first 30 minutes in all four Group F games played so far and whilst we’re anticipating a tentative start in Frankfurt over 0.5 first half goals should be given some real consideration at 3/4.
Ivan Schranz is one of only three players to score in each of his nation’s first two Euro 2024 matches and whilst the Slavia Prague forward is far from prolific, he will prove an attractive option in the various goalscorer markets once more. Schranz is 4/1 to score at any time whilst the 30-year-old is 10/1 to score first for the third straight game.
