The third and final day of a thrilling Irish Derby Festival will take place at the Curragh on Sunday with no fewer than nine races to look forward to throughout the afternoon. Here at betting.bet we have cast our eye over all nine races and hand-picked some real standout selections across Sunday including odds from our betting partners at bet365.
Curragh Racing Tips
- Sharinay (9/4)
- Tunbridge Wells (7/4)
- Commanche Falls (6/5)
- Los Angeles (11/8)
- Blues Emperor (15/2)

SHARINAY - 9/4
Handicap debutant Formal Display and stablemate Soldiers Empire both have an excellent chance for respected trainer Ger Lyons whilst ex-Spanish trained filly Princess Child remains of interest on her first run for new trainer Joseph O’Brien.
However Sharinay is likely to go off a short-priced favourite after following up his Cork maiden success by going close when second in a handicap race at Naas last month. Naas winner went on to finish third in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot and Sharinay could prove too good for Sunday’s field.

TUNBRIDGE WELLS - 7/4
The first of several red-hot Ballydoyle prospects we’ll see at the Curragh on Sunday, Tunbridge Wells won comfortably over C&D earlier this month and runner up Mighty Eriu has since franked that form by finishing second in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. Tunbridge Wells ran green last time out and now wears first-time cheekpieces.
The Strikin Viking and Arizona Blaze come next in the betting but the biggest danger is likely to be Principality for respected trainer Richard Hannon. Swerved Royal Ascot in preparation for this race, Principality won at Goodwood earlier this month and three of the horses behind him that day have since gone on to win.
2:15
Jebel Ali Racecourse & Stables Dash Stakes
COMMANCHE FALLS - 6/5
Commanche Falls won this race last year before going on to land the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury. Well-held in both the Abernant and Clipper Stakes on his reappearance from a break but made a timely return to form when second to Believing in a Listed contest at Haydock earlier this month. Ano Syra is likely to be the biggest threat to our pick on her Greenlands form but has to put her recent Cork disappointment behind her.

LOS ANGELES - 11/8
The Irish Derby is the feature race on Sunday and we’re tipping Los Angeles to reverse the Epsom form against Derby runner up Ambiente Friendly. Prior to chasing City Of Troy home in the Betfred Derby, Ambiente Friendly won the Derby Trial at Lingfield ahead of subsequent Queen’s Vase winner Illinois Our selection, Los Angeles was 3/3 prior to that Epsom third, including a Group 1 win in France as a two-year-old and last month’s Group 3 Derby Trial at Leopardstown. Faster ground at the Curragh should be a big plus for Los Angeles.

BLUES EMPEROR - 15/2
Coeur d’Or won for a third time in four runs when landing the Irish Cambrideshire over C&D last August but has not quite been at the same level since. Sixth in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot but just 2½ lengths off the race winner Wild Tiger. However, Coeur d’Or is eight years old now and may be vulnerable off top weight to a more progressive type.
Blues Emperor was just a neck off Coeur d’Or in the Irish Cambridgeshire and fifth behind market leader State Actor last time out but has since earned a swing in the weights against both rivals ahead of this. 7lbs claimer with apprentice jockey Rory Mulligan set to take the saddle.
