The Biggest Boxing Events Of July

Below are just some of the events taking place throughout July, including the latest fight odds

As we head into July, the top-level boxing matches continue to come thick and fast with another month of hotly-anticipated bouts ahead of us. Boxing is booming at the moment and over the coming months we have some hotly-anticipated bouts to look forward to in the UK and beyond. Pushed on by the vast sums of money currently available in Saudi Arabia and the emergence of ‘YouTuber’ boxing, below are just some of the events taking place throughout July, including the latest boxing odds courtesy of our partners at DAZN Bet.

Shakur Stevenson v Artem Harutyunyan

The first weekend of the month includes a world title fight in the USA as Shakur Stevenson makes the first defence of his WBC lightweight title against Artem Harutyunyan at the Prudential Center in Newark. Three-weight world champion Stevenson won the vacant title in a rather underwhelming win over Edwin De Los Santos last November whilst Artem Harutyunyan heads into the bout on the back of a UD loss to Frank Martin.

Shakur Stevenson v Edwin De Los Santos: Fight Highlights

Shakur Stevenson is the red-hot favourite to win on Saturday and if he can come through the bout inscathed it could set up a mouth-watering unification fight against WBA champion Gervonta Davis.

Jaron Ennis v David Avanesyan

One week on from Shakur Stevenson’s first title defence and there will be another world title fight stateside as IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis takes on David Avanesyan at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Ennis remains unbeaten in 32 professional bouts and will make his first appearance in the ring since joining up with Matchroom. Avenesyan will be involved in his second successive world title fight having unsuccessfully challenged Terrence Crawford for the WBO welterweight title back in December 2022.

Jake Paul was due to fight former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson later this month but with that bout now postponed until the autumn, Paul will instead meet mixed martial artist Mike Perry at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida on July 20th. Perry lost his only previous professional boxing match back in 2015 but has since reeled off five straight BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) wins.

Joe Joyce v Derek Chisora

Meanwhile in the UK, there is a good old-fashioned heavyweight tear up expected at the O2 Arena on July 27th as Joe Joyce goes toe-to-toe with Derek Chisora. Joe Joyce had thrust himself into world title contention with wins over the likes of Daniel Dubois, Carlos Takam and Joseph Parker but is now looking to rebuild his reputation in the heavyweight division after two damaging stoppage defeats against Zhilei Zhang.

Joyce v Zhang 2: Fight Highlights

The Juggernaut has been forced to sit back and watch Dubois become world champion whilst Joseph Parker has re-established his reputation as a top level operator. Now it’s the turn of Joe Joyce to get back to winning ways against fans favourite Derek Chisora.
