Treble Maker - July 3rd
We have condensed Wednesday’s 33 races into 3 tips as part of our midweek Treble Maker.
There’s a busy day of racing ahead on Wednesday with five meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland. The day’s action gets underway at Thirsk at 2:15 whilst there are also full cards scheduled at Musselburgh, Tipperary, Bath and Epsom. Here at betting.bet we have condensed Wednesday’s 33 races into 3 tips as part of our midweek Treble Maker. Wednesday’s race odds are provided by our partners at Ladbrokes.
3:45 - Thirsk
Weatherbys ePassport Handicap (Div I)
LANGHOLM - 5/1
Three-year-old Savvy Warrior looked far more comfortable dropping back to 7f last time out and it would not be a surprise to see him land a second win in quick succession. However we’re tipping Langholm to turn over the short-priced favourite on Wednesday.
Langholm may be on a losing streak that stretches back more than two years but this popular eight-year-old has been in good form this year and may be ready for a return to the winners enclosure. Langholm boasts figures of 25232252 in 2024 and has finished second in all four runs over 7f this year. Unlucky second over C&D in first-time cheekpieces less than two weeks ago and returns today with headgear retained.
4:05 - Musselburgh
SHINE ON BRENDAN - 7/2
Scarriff is another well-supported favourite expecting a big run on Wednesday but he has a step up in trip and a 10lbs weight hike to contend with since winning here last month. Shine On Brendan could be the better value at a much bigger price and he has won this race in each of the past two years. Won last year off 1lb higher and also won off a higher mark at Hamilton last August. Solid run last time out at Hamilton over Wednesday’s 1m1f trip was a big step in the right direction.
7:25 - Epsom
MR WAGYU - 7/4
Yorkshire-based trainers John and Sean Quinn send two horses down to Epsom on Wednesday and both have an excellent chance of winning. Tropez Power runs at 9:00 but our preference is for Mr Wagyu earlier in the evening. Mr Wagyu has not won since landing the Scurry Handicap at the Curragh in July 2022 but he’s now back on a very manageable mark. Finished third in a strong looking handicap at Ripon last and can perhaps count himself unfortunate not to have won at Epsom on Derby Day. Second by a short-head over C&D last month to the in-form Misty Grey but he’s our tip to take the spoils on Wednesday.
Get It is likely to be the main danger as he looks to follow up an impressive win at Windsor last time out. Tends to fare better over 5f but would not be a surprise to see him build on that Windsor run.
Treble Maker Odds - 73.25/1
- Langholm (5/1)
- Shine On Brendan (7/2)
- Mr Wagyu (7/4)
