July Festival - Day Two Betting Tips & Odds

As we look ahead to an exciting Friday card, here at betting.bet we have picked out a handful of our leading fancies
Newmarket’s July Festival got off to a sensational start on Thursday with the likes of Ancient Wisdom and Whistlecrack getting back to winning ways in a couple of eye-catching performances early in the afternoon. In the day’s feature race red-hot favourite Hamsih was well-beaten as two-time Yorkshire Cup winner Giavellotto raced away to land the Princess Of Wales’s Stakes.
On day two of the meeting we have seven more races to get excited about including the first Group 1 race of the week with seven runners confirmed for the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes. As we look ahead to an exciting Friday card, here at betting.bet we have picked out a handful of our leading fancies, providing race odds from our betting partners at BoyleSports.
Day Two Tips: Treble Odds - 93.5/1
- Involvement (5/1)
- Porta Fortuna (5/4)
- Metabolt (6/1)
1:50
bet365 Handicap (Heritage Handicap)
INVOLVEMENT - 5/1
Royal Power is the market leader for Friday’s opener having finished a close third in a Listed contest at Goodwood in May. Struggled for racing room and could take a big step forward on his handicap debut here. However, we’re going to take on the race favourite with Involvement. 7/29 over one mile in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot and he should be better suited to Friday’s 1m2f trip.
Chantilly was four lengths off the winner in the King George V Stakes over 1m4f at Royal Ascot despite racing wide and hanging right throughout. Credible third in the London Gold Cup over Friday’s trip a race earlier. Will appreciate softer ground and this talented front-runner is capable of making all on Friday.
3:35
Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Fillies & Mares)
PORTA FORTUNA - 5/4
Porta Fortuna is the bookies’ favourite to win Friday’s feature race and she is hard to oppose in the Falmouth Stakes for trainer Donnacha O’Brien. She was unlucky not to get up to win when finishing second in the 1000 Guineas but went one better to win the Coronation Stakes last time out. Also boasted solid two-year-old form including Group 1 success in the Cheveley Park Stakes on Newmarket’s Rowley Mile.
The betting markets would suggest that Running Lion is the main danger. Will certainly appreciate good ground and is 4/4 over one mile. Trainer won this last year and she has to be respected. In contrast to Running Lion, A Lilac Rolla will hope for some overnight rain. Second in the Irish 1000 Guineas and has twice beaten the highly-talented Opera Singer.
4:45
Federation Of Bloodstock Agents Handicap
METABOLT - 6/1
Metabolt won at both Leicester and Windsor last month and despite being nudged up the weights following back-to-back wins he could complete a hat-trick of wins on Friday. The Windsor runner up has certainly boosted that form with two superb runs since. Jockey Rossa Ryan has been in excellent form recently and won on board Magic Mild on day one of the July Festival.
Zouzanna stayed on for third over 7f at Newbury last month and is set to go off as favourite however the biggest danger to Metabolt could be Waiting All Night under jockey Ryan Moore. The four-year-old has not won since his juvenile season but went close over C&D two weeks ago. Returns to Newmarket off the same mark and commands respect.
