Donna Vekic v Jasmine Paolini
We’re guaranteed a first-time Wimbledon finalist from the first semi-final as seventh seed Jasmine Paolini takes on world number 37 Donna Vekic. Paolini is enjoying a superb 2024 having enjoyed career-best performances in all three Grand Slam events so far this year. The French Open finalist eased to a straight sets win (6-2 6-1) over 19th seed Emma Navarro in the quarter-final and has now dropped just one set in five matches so far at SW19 to become the first Italian Wimbledon semi-finalist in the Open era.
Paolini’s semi-final opponent is unseeded Croatian Donna Vekic. Vekic bounced back from dropping the first set to defeat qualifier Lulu Sun in the quarter-final. Vekic warmed up for Wimbledon by reaching the final of the Bad Homburg Open last month but has done things the hard way at the All England Club, going to three sets in four of her five matches so far.

Barbora Krejcikova v Elena Rybakina
2021 French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova reached her first ever Wimbledon semi-final and a first Grand Slam semi-final since winning at Roland Garros three years ago. The 31st seed continues to impress at SW19, eliminating players ranked above her in each of the last two rounds. 11th seed Danielle Collins was beaten in straight sets in round four before 13th seed Jelena Ostapenko was dealt a similar fate in the quarter-final.
Elena Rybakina is the red-hot favourite to go on and win a second Wimbledon title in three years and from this point the world number four is going to take some stopping. Rybakina has won three WTA 500 titles this year and has cruised into the Wimbledon semi-final by dropping just one set in five matches so far. Elina Svitolina was expected to pose a real challenge to Rybakina in the quarter-final having already defeated Ons Jabeur and Xin Wang but was swept aside in straight sets (6-3 6-2).
