Juddmonte Irish Oaks Weekend - Day Two Tips
We’ll provide our tips and insights ahead of the day’s biggest races and race predictions for all eight races
The second day of this weekend’s racing at the Curragh features three more Group-level races across another exciting eight-race card. Saturday’s highlights included Irish Oaks glory for You Got To Me whilst the day’s other key races produced a Ryan Moore double on board Believing and Tower Of London.
As we look ahead to Sunday, here at betting.bet we’ll again provide our tips and insights ahead of the day’s biggest races and race predictions for all eight races. Sunday’s horse racing tips include odds from our partners at Ladbrokes.
2:10
Jebel Ali Racecourse And Stables Anglesey Stakes (Group 3)
COWARDOFTHECOUNTY - 10/3
Even at odds as short as 13/8, Babouche has attracted plenty of market support ahead of the Anglesey Stakes for trainer Ger Lyons. Babouche has the makings of a Group 1 filly and looked superb on debut, winning a 6f contest at Cork last month by five lengths. Certainly has more to offer on Sunday and will be there or thereabouts.
However, our preference is for Cowardofthecounty for in-form trainer Joseph O’Brien. O’Brien landed a nice double at the Curragh on Saturday with both Rudi’s Apple and Puturhandstogether winning and Cowardofthecounty could offer him further success on Sunday. Cowardofthecounty left Whistlejacket trailing here at the Curragh on debut and was only 1¾ lengths adrift of race winner Rashabar in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.
3:15
Romanised Minstrel Stakes (Group 2)
LORD MASSUSUS - 11/4
The Minstrel Stakes if the feature race on day two of the weekend’s Irish Oaks meeting and last year’s winning yard have another solid chance with Mutasarref. The Ger Lyon-trained six-year-old is eyeing a hat-trick having won at both Naas and Leopardstown recently over Sunday’s 7f trip. In form and one of only two C&D winners in the race, there’s a lot to like about Mutasarref.
The current market leader is Lord Massusus for trainer Joe Murphy. Lord Massusus won the Celebration Stakes over 1m at the Curragh last month and now drops back to 7f. HAs already won over Sunday’s trip whilst his last run over 7f saw him finish a respectable second in a Group 2 at Newmarket in the autumn.
4:20
Al Shira'aa Racing Meadow Court Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies & Mares)
JACKIE OH - 6/5
The final Group race of the weekend could go to Ballydoyle with Aidan O’Brien’s Jackie Oh a red-hot favourite. Off the track for 274 days but enjoyed a superb 2023, boasting figures of 12501223. Her last run saw her finish a credible third in the Group 1 Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot whilst she only lost by a neck to Blue Rose Cen in the Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp a race prior to that. If rediscovering last year’s form, Jackie Oh is unlikely to be beaten on Sunday.
If the race favourite does flop, this could open the door for American Sonja to land a second Group win in three runs this year. American Sonja is a hugely consistent sort despite finding a Group 1 at Saratoga too quick last month. Has to be considered but Jackie Oh should prove too good.
