Premier League Outright Betting Tips & Odds (Top Goalscorer Special)
Here at betting.bet we’ll assess the chances of some of the market leaders
We’re just days away from the start of the new Premier League season and as excitement starts to build towards what promises to be a thrilling campaign, one of the most popular topics of discussion surrounds the top goalscorer betting market. Inevitably, Erling Haaland heads this particular market but with bookmakers Ladbrokes paying out on the top four goalscorers in all each-way bets, there is plenty of value to be had. Here at betting.bet we’ll assess the chances of some of the market leaders, using Ladbrokes’ latest odds.
Erling Haaland
Manchester City
2023/24: 27 goals / 31 matches
Odds: 8/13
Erling Haaland has enjoyed a much-needed break throughout the summer as Norway failed to qualify for Euro 2024. An Erling Haaland, refreshed and raring to go, is wonderful news for Manchester City but very bad news for the Premier League’s other 19 clubs. Haaland has hit the ground running since moving to Manchester City and he has won the Premier League’s Golden Boot in both of his seasons in England. In 2022/23, Haaland smashed the record for goals in a season with 36 goals in 35 matches whilst an injury-disrupted 2023/24 campaign still produced 27 goals in 31 matches. The Norwegian superstar has an astonishing 63 goals in 66 Premier League matches in total and it is therefore no surprise to see him odds-on in this season’s Golden Boot market.
Mohamed Salah
Liverpool
2023/24: 18 goals / 32 matches
Odds: 12/1
Mohamed Salah is about to embark on his eighth season in the red of Liverpool and his 2023/24 record of 18 goals in 32 matches represented his lowest return of both goals and appearances in the Premier League season for Liverpool. The Liverpool legend is entering the final year of his contract at the club with suggestions he could depart at the end of the upcoming campaign. If Salah is to bow out after eight seasons on Merseyside he will certainly want to do so on a high and he remains an influential figure for the Reds. At 12/1, Salah is incredible value, as an each-way proposition at least.
Alexander Isak
Newcastle United
2023/24: 21 goals / 30 matches
Odds: 12/1
Alexander Isak nailed down the centre forward spot at St James Park last season as he bagged an impressive 21 goals in 30 league games. Like both Haaland and Salah, Isak enjoyed a summer off with Sweden failing to qualify for Euro 2024. Isak will again be the go-to guy for goals at Newcastle United but a summer of minimal transfer activity may leave the Magpies slightly off the pace at the top of the Premier League this season. Can Isak hit 20+ goals if Newcastle United are teetering near mid-table?
Cole Palmer
Chelsea
2023/24: 22 goals / 33 matches
Odds: 16/1
Cole Palmer was crowned the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season in 2023/24 as he enjoyed an excellent first season at Chelsea. The former Manchester City Academy star kicked on to impress at Euro 2024 and will once again be Chelsea’s main scoring threat this coming season. Chelsea remain a club in turmoil and new manager Enzo Maresca is untested at this level, therefore like Isak at Newcastle United, it remains to be seen how effective Palmer can be if Chelsea aren’t quite up to it in the coming months.
Ollie Watkins
Aston Villa
2023/24: 19 goals / 37 matches
Odds: 16/1
Ollie Watkins enjoyed his most prolific Premier League season to date in 2023/24 as his 19 goals and 13 assists steered Aston Villa to a surprise top four finish. Watkins earned himself a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad and there are now concerns he’s feeling the effects of a minimal pre-season. The Aston Villa forward has failed to impress in a handful of pre-season matches this summer and there are fears that he could take a while to get going. Aston Villa are about to embark on their first Champions League campaign in almost 30 years which could put additional pressure on Watkins and co in the Premier League. We don’t expect Watkins’ performances to drop considerably but he’s probably a little short in the market at 16/1.
Dominic Solanke
Tottenham Hotspur
2023/24: 19 goals / 38 matches
Odds: 16/1
The first man in the betting to have switched clubs this summer is Spurs’ former AFC Bournemouth forward Dominic Solanke. Solanke finally looked like fulfilling his obvious potential last season as he netted 19 times for an AFC Bournemouth side that finished in the bottom half of the league. The former Chelsea and Liverpool forward has completed a £65m summer move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, hoping to fill the void left by all-time record goalscorer Harry Kane. Solanke has plenty of creative support in Heung-min Son, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski and with a favourable run of fixtures in the first couple of the weeks of the season, Solanke could hit the ground running in North London.
