Premier League: Saturday Special - Betting Tips, Odds & Insights (17th August)
Saturday treble - Liverpool, Everton and West Ham United to win - 7.75/1
The Premier League returns this week and after the season kicks off on Friday with Manchester United v Fulham at Old Trafford, we have no fewer than six more Premier League matches to look forward to on Saturday. Here at betting.bet we have cast our eyes over the opening weekend’s action and narrowed Saturday’s fixtures down to just a few intriguing betting tips. Saturday’s football tips include odds from our betting partners at Betfred.
Saturday’s Premier League Treble Odds - 7.75/1
- Liverpool to win (1/3)
- Everton to win (13/8)
- West Ham United to win (6/4)
Ipswich Town v Liverpool
LIVERPOOL to win - 1/3
From an Ipswich Town perspective there is probably no better time to play Liverpool than in their first game back in the top-flight in more than two decades. The Tractor Boys are still bursting with confidence following last season’s promotion whilst Liverpool are set to begin the post-Jurgen Klopp era with Arne Slot the new man in charge. However, this is an Ipswich Town side that are expected to be involved in a relegation battle whilst Liverpool are amongst the pre-tournament favourites to win this season’s Premier League title. The Reds should prove too strong for their Suffolk hosts and look good value for the win at 1/3.
Additionally, Mohamed Salah has earned a much-needed rest this summer with no international football and as the Egyptian enters the final year of his Liverpool contract, he should be considered at 9/10 to score at any time at Portman Road. Salah is currently second favourite behind Erling Haaland to win the Premier League Golden Boot this season.
Everton v Brighton & Hove Albion
EVERTON to win - 13/8
Brighthon & Hove Albion also head into the new campaign under a new manager with 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler set to become the league’s youngest ever manager. The American enjoyed a hugely successful 18 months in charge of FC St. Pauli which eventually saw the Germans promoted to the Bundesliga last season. However, the Premier League is a considerable step up from the German second tier and Hurzeler is likely to take time to get up to speed at the Seagulls.
Everton enjoyed an encouraging end to the 2023/24 season which saw them win their last five league matches without conceding a single goal. Sean Dyche’s side will prove hard to beat throughout the upcoming campaign whilst the fitness of Dominic Calvert-Lewin could prove key in their attempts to compete for a top half finish. The Toffees fans are undoubtedly set for another rollercoaster season but we expect them to get up and running with all three points on Saturday.
If you want to boost your odds further then you should consider backing Everton to win to nil at odds of 4/1. Five straight home league wins without conceding a goal at the end of last season coupled with a Brighton side set to be led by Danny Welbeck should see the Toffees ease to a home win.
West Ham United v Aston Villa
WEST HAM UNITED to win - 6/4
Aston Villa were the Premier League’s surprise package last season as they earned a deserved top four finish and a place in this season’s UEFA Champions League. Unai Emery’s side have kicked on by bolstering their squad further with the likes of Amadou Onana and Ian Maatsen signing whilst Cameron Archer and Jaden Philogene have returned to Villa Park. However, we’re predicting that they’ll get their season off to a losing start in East London against a West Ham United side that have been equally impressive in the transfer market during the off-season.
Under new manager Julen Lopetegui, West Ham United could be this season’s surprise package having bolstered their squad throughout the summer. Max Kilman and Aaron Wan-Bissaka should shore up the Hammers defence whilst German international Niclas Fullkrug is a smart signing up front. Last season’s Championship Player of the Season, Crysencio Summerville and Brazilian prospect Luis Guilherme add considerable flair to the West Ham United squad.
Aston Villa may have taken four points from last season's two league games against West Ham United but they have never won at the London Stadium. The Hammers’ last defeat at home to Aston Villa came at Upton Park in April 2011 and we’re expecting the home side to take all three points on Saturday.
