York Ebor Festival: Day Two Tips & Odds
Our resident tipsters have picked out a handful of horses worth real consideration on day two of the Ebor Festival
The Ebor Festival got off to a thrilling start on Wednesday with the likes of Los Angeles and City Of Troy starring on the Knavesmire. There are seven more top-class races on Thursday, the highlight of which is the Yorkshire Oaks. Once again, our resident tipsters have picked out a handful of horses worth real consideration on day two of the Ebor Festival. Tomorrow’s horse racing tips include odds from our partners at BoyleSports.

Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (Group 2) (Fillies) (IRE Incentive Race)
HEAVENS GATE - 9/4
The first race of the day promises to be a very competitive Lowther Stakes with nine confirmed runners for this year’s renewal. Leovanni is the market leader for trainer Karl Burke. Won the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out and heads to York chasing a hat-trick. Carries a penalty following that Ascot win but this quick 6f could suit.
Aidan O’Brien enjoyed an excellent first day at York, winning all three of the day’s group races. The Ballydoyle team are represented by Heavens Gate here and she is certainly capable of continuing the solid form shown this summer. Not finished outside of the top three in her five races so far and was far from disgraced when a length down in third in both the Albany Stakes and Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes. Came out on top in a 21-runner race at Naas last time out and commands respect.
Betty Clover was some way off Leovanni at Ascot but has excellent each-way claims on the back of some encouraging runs so far this year. Won on debut ahead of a rival that has since gone on to win a Listed contest. Edged out Miss Lamai over 5f here at York in May and was only beaten by a neck in a Group 3 contest at Ascot last time out.

Harry's Half Million By Goffs Premier Yearling Stakes (GBB/IRE Incentive Race)
AN OUTLAW’S GRACE - 10/3
Ryan Moore enjoyed himself at York on Wednesday and on Thursday he could land another winner on board An Outlaw’s Grace for trainer Richard Hannon. Won on debut before finishing a close fourth in a Group 2 over in France. Not quite at it in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood last month but should be more at ease in Thursday’s big field. Trainer Richard Hannon accounts for five of the last eight winners of this race.
Kevin Ryan has an excellent record with two-year-olds and the in-form trainer is represented by Against The Wind on Thursday. Won at Newcastle over 5f (AW) last time out and could go well on his return to turf. Solid each-way claims.

Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks (Group 1) (Fillies & Mares) (British Champions Series)
CONTENT - 3/1
The feature race on the second day of the festival may only have eight confirmed runners but at least five have a real chance of success on Thursday, Queen Of Pride is the current market leader and she seems to be progressing nicely this year. Won a Group 3 at Haydock in June before returning a month later to earn a three-length victory in the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks. Not many miles on the clock for a four-year-old and is one of two leading players for the Gosden yard.
Stablemate Emily Upjohn is arguably the most talented horse in the field but she’s not quite been at her best this year. Won the Group 1 Coronation Cup last summer but has not won on any of her subsequent six runs. Only run over 1m4f this year saw her finish ten lengths off this year’s Coronation Cup winner whilst she was eight lengths down when finishing 6th/9 in the Nassau Stakes last time out.
As we anticipate another successful day for the Aidan O’Brien / Ryan Moore team, our tip for Thursday’s feature race is Content. The three-year-old came from last to third in the Pretty Polly Stakes two runs back and finished second in the Irish Oaks last time out on her first run over Thursday’s trip. Will certainly come on for that run and is a leading player on Thursday.
