York Ebor Festival: Day Three Tips & Odds

Here at betting.bet we’ll offer our latest Ebor Festival betting tips, including odds
Another thrilling day of racing on the Knavesmire is over with Ballydoyle once again grabbing the headlines as Ryan Moore saddled Content to Yorkshire Oaks glory for the Aidan O’Brien yard. We now turn our attention to day three of the Ebor Festival and the Nunthorpe Stakes is the feature race on Friday.
The seven-race card includes three Group races in total with the Lonsdale Cup and Gimcrack also scheduled to take place. Here at betting.bet we’ll offer our latest Ebor Festival betting tips, including odds from one of the leading horse racing betting websites, Betfred.

Sky Bet Handicap (Heritage Handicap)
LIEBER POWER - 8/1
Wafei is the market leader for Friday’s opening race following a solid run at Goodwood last time out. However, we’re happy to take on the favourite with the Andrew Balding-trained four-year-old Lieber Power. Two wins and two seconds in four runs since returning to 1m4f and he can certainly go close again on Friday. Set for a 4lbs rise in the future but remains on a very useful mark. Jockey Oisin Murphy finally got off the mark for the week by saddling Scenic to victory on Thursday.

Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes (Group 2) (British Champions Series)
ALSAKIB - 8/1
There are question marks over the two market leaders ahead of the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup with Vauban below-par last time out and Point Lonsdale never going beyond 1m5½f. Vauban gave a solid account of himself when second in the Yorkshire Cup and was far from disgraced in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot however he was well beaten at the Curragh last time. Whilst he still commands respect, each run this year has been slightly worse than the one before and he’s easy to oppose here.
Point Lonsdale is the bookies’ favourite as he steps up in trip having won the Group 3 Ormonde Stakes over a shorter trip at Chester in May. The manner of that win at Chester certainly suggested he was capable of further but we feel there is better value in one of the outsiders in the betting.
Alsakib always looked like wanting more in four runs over 1m4f - 1m6f this year and he heads back to York having won a Group 3 contest here over 1m6f last month. He could be the one to upset the leading pair. Alternatively, Align The Stars has been running exceptionally well in handicaps, boasting figures of 223111 in six runs over 1m2f - 1m6f this year. Whilst this is an obvious step up in class for the Sea The Stars colt, he cannot be ruled out lightly.

Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2) (IRE Incentive Race) (Colts & Geldings)
CAMILLE PISSARRO - 4/1
Big Mojo was one of the stars of Glorious Goodwood, following in the footsteps of stablemate Big Evs to land the Molecomb Stakes for trainer Michael Appleby. Shaped like there’s more to come at Goodwood and certainly warrants respect over this slightly longer trip.
However, we’re giving another chance to Camille Pissarro despite failing to win any of his three runs since landing a maiden at Navan on debut. Unlucky when beaten by a head when odds-on in the Marble Hill Stakes. Marble Hill winner Arizona Blaze certainly boosted that form when an unlucky second on Thursday. Camille Pissarro was disappointing in the Coventry Stakes at Ascot but bounced back to finish second in the Anglesey Stakes back at the Curragh last time out. The Ballydoyle team are in red-hot form this week and another Group success beckons.
3:35
Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series)
ASFOORA - 6/4
The feature race on day three is the Nunthorpe Stakes and this year’s renewal of this 5f Group 1 will see Big Evs and Asfoora renew their exciting rivalry. The two sprint stars have one win apiece from their two previous duels, Asfoora took the spoils in the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot before losing out under a penalty in the Qatar Stakes at Goodwood. This showdown promises to be one of the races of the week and we’re backing Australian star Asfoora to take the spoils.
Far from a two-horse race, there are several horses of note set to line up on Friday. Bradsell won a Group 1 contest at Royal Ascot last year before finishing third in last year’s Nunthorpe renewal. Won a Listed race at Deauville earlier this month on his only run so far this year but certainly commands respect based on his 2023 form.
Believing won the Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh last month and put in a solid run to chase home the leading pair in the Qatar Stakes. Didn’t have a clear run at Goodwood and ran home well enough to suggest she’s capable of reversing that form. Winning this may be a big ask but she possesses each-way claims at the very least.
