The Racing League will come to a conclusion on Thursday with Southwell set to stage the final seven races of this year’s competition. Wales & The West head into the final week with a narrow lead over both London & The South and The East but reigning champions Ireland have an outside chance of retaining their title after a superb fifth week in Newcastle which saw them win the first for races of the evening.

Wales & The West have an excellent chance of consolidating top spot in the first race of the evening with two of the first three in the betting representing the league leaders. Dancing In Paris is the market leader for Wales & The West. Trained by Ian Williams, Dancing In Paris runs off a solid mark 19 days on from an impressive run as Ascot. AW form is a concern having finished well off the pace on all AW races to date.
Cock And Bull is arguably the better prospect for Wales & The West. Now on a career-high mark but this progressive three-year-old boasts figures of 21221123 in eight races so far in 2024. A previous winner on the AW at Kempton whilst his two most recent wins at Sandown both came over Thursday’s trip. Has to be respected under jockey Benoit De La Sayette.
Our preference is actually for La Pulga for Scotland. The Charlie Johnston-trained five-year-old finished ahead of the well-fancied Who’s Glen last time out and despite a scheduled 3lbs rise, he remains on a very generous mark on Thursday. Placed on successive AW runs at Wolverhampton and Newcastle and could prove the pick of these at Southwell.

We could see a solid start to the Racing League finale for London & The South with Racingbreaks Ryder set to go well in the second race of the evening. Wide-drawn but remains on the same mark that saw him produce solid runs at Goodwood and Windsor in his last two outings.
Grand Karat is the main danger having won here over C&D last time out. Remains unexposed and is certainly the best hope of current league leaders Wales & The West. At a bigger price, Zip is certainly one to watch. On his lowest mark for some time and has previous C&D form, winning off 5lbs higher back in February 2023. Drops in class and could defy his big price from a useful stall 8 draw.

Tropez Power is a useful performer on the AW with his form at Southwell particularly good.five previous runs at Thursday’s venue have produced figures of 13141. One of only two C&D winners in the race and unlucky to have run into traffic at Wolverhampton last week. Never too far away and we’re tipping this talented five-year-old to get up for Yorkshire.
