Having scanned over all fixtures taking place in the EFL this coming weekend, we have narrowed Saturday’s 33 matches down to five red-hot tips. This week’s EFL football betting tips include odds from our partners at Coral.

EFL Acca Odds - 15/1

  • Burnley to win (1/2)
  • West Bromwich Albion to win (4/9)
  • Barnsley to win (10/11)
  • Stockport County to win (8/13)
  • Walsall to win (7/5)

Burnley v Portsmouth

Burnley to win - 1/2

Scott Parker’s Burnley got their promotion charge back on track last weekend as they earned a huge three points away at Leeds United. The Clarets were handed a tricky run of fixtures on their return to the Championship and their 1-0 win at Elland Road was their first league win in three matches. The Clarets should build on that win and will prove too powerful for a Portsmouth side yet to win in five league games this season.

Portsmouth lost 3-0 at home to West Bromwich Albion last weekend, their second straight loss having started the season with three successive draws. Pompey’s away form last season was particularly strong and they have started the new season with high-scoring draws away to both Leeds United (3-3) and Middlesbrough (2-2). They won’t make it easy for Burnley but we’re backing the hosts to edge this tie at Turf Moor.

West Bromwich Albion v Plymouth Argyle

West Bromwich Albion to win - 4/9

Plymouth Argyle earned a shock 3-2 win at home to table-topping Sunderland last weekend and on Saturday they travel to the new league leaders, West Bromwich Albion. Unfortunately for Wayne Rooney and co, we’re not expecting The Pilgrims to get too much from their trip to the Hawthorns and the hosts looks excellent value at 4/9 to earn all three points.

West Brom moved to the top of the Championship table with a convincing 3-0 win away at Portsmouth last weekend. Whilst Portsmouth may be languishing near the foot of the table, the manner of the victory for Carlos Corberan’s side was a real statement of intent. The Baggies are unbeaten in eight matches against Saturday’s opponents and ran out comfortable 3-0 winners when the sides last met back in February.

Burton Albion v Barnsley

Barnsley to win - 10/11

It’s been a week to forget for Tykes fans as Barnsley followed up their 3-0 defeat to Stevenage in League One by losing 7-0 to Manchester United in the League Cup on Tuesday. Next up for Barnsley is a trip to struggling Burton Albion and we’re backing Darrell Clarke’s side to bounce back at the Pirelli Stadium.

Barnsley boasted a hugely impressive away record in League One last season, earning more points on the road than they did at Oakwell as they finished sixth in the league. Prior to that shock reverse at Stevenage, they had started the new season in similarly solid fashion, winning both away league games against Lincoln City (2-1) and Crawley Town (3-0).

Saturday’s hosts, Burton Albion are currently 20th in League One and have failed to win any of their five league games played so far. After kicking off the season with a 3-2 loss at home to Lincoln City, Burton Albion have since earned four straight draws. Seventh-placed Barnsley are the highest-ranked side Burton Albion have come against in the opening weeks of the season.

Stockport County v Leyton Orient

Stockport County to win - 8/13

Stockport County’s flying start to the season has stuttered recently with two straight draws enough to see the Hatters slump to fifth in the league however we’re expecting them to get their promotion push back on track on Saturday when they welcome Leyton Orient to Edgeley Park.

Stockport County have won seven straight home leagues, including five matches at the end of their title-winning 2023/24 campaign and two more at the start of the new season. The Hatters have kept six clean sheets in that run of seven victories and will be heavy favourites on Saturday despite Leyton Orient earning a hard-fought 1-0 win away at Reading in their most recent league game.

Two of Leyton Orient’s four defeats this season have come against Shrewsbury Town and Bolton Wanderers and both of these sides currently occupy a bottom four spot and between them have failed to win any of the other nine league games they have contested so far this season.

Salford City v Walsall

Walsall to win - 7/5

Salford City have enjoyed a real upturn in form in recent weeks and head into the weekend’s fixtures on the back of successive wins and are unbeaten in four league games. However, that good run could come to an end on Saturday when they welcome Walsall to Moor Lane.

Walsall are fourth in League Two with four wins from their six league games so far and can count themselves unfortunate not to have taken anything from narrow 1-0 defeats to both Tranmere Rovers and MK Dons. With the top two in League Two playing each other at Meadow Lane, Walsall have the extra incentive of being able to move into the automatic promotion places with a win,

Walsall are averaging more than 10 shots on goal per game and those attempts are going to be converted into goals sooner rather than later. Whilst we don’t expect Salford City to be completely blown away on Saturday, we are expecting an away win in this.
