EFL Acca - Saturday Special (28th September)
Derby County, Birmingham City, Blackpool, Barnsley & Notts County to win - 22.27/1
We have a bumper Saturday to look forward to in the EFL this weekend with 66 of the 72 member clubs in action throughout the day. With so much football to look forward to, we have narrowed the weekend’s fixtures down to five tips for our weekly EFL acca. This weekend’s acca includes football betting odds from our partners at BoyleSports.
EFL Acca Odds - 22.27/1
- Derby County to win (17/10)
- Birmingham City to win (11/20)
- Blackpool to win (4/9)
- Barnsley to win (6/5)
- Notts County to win (3/4)
Derby County v Norwich City
Derby County to win - 17/10
Derby County have won all three home league games this season yet sit tenth in the table having lost each of their three matches on the road. The Rams host a Norwich City full of confidence after last weekend’s convincing 4-1 win at home to Watford but we’re edging towards another home win at Pride Park. Norwich City’s away form is a real cause for concern with their last nine league defeats all coming away from Carrow Road.
Birmingham City v Peterborough United
Birmingham City to win - 11/20
Birmingham City will be a regular feature in our EFL betting tips this season as we expect League One’s big spenders to kick on and secure an immediate return to the Championship. After winning 2-0 at Rotherham United last weekend Birmingham City have now won five successive league games and only sit second to Wrexham on goal difference having played one game fewer.
Peterborough United head to St Andrews on Saturday with just one win in four league games and without a clean sheet in any of their nine matches in all competitions this season. The Posh are likely play-off contenders this season but we don’t expect them to take anything from this weekend’s trip to the second city.
Blackpool v Burton Albion
Blackpool to win - 4/9
Blackpool have really found their feet in recent weeks with Steve Bruce making a dream start to life in the Bloomfield Road hotseat. Blackpool head into the weekend on the back of three successive league wins under Bruce and have scored two or more in five straight league games. Burton Albion visit Blackpool this weekend still searching for their first league win of the season.
The Brewers have outscored the seven other sides currently occupying a bottom eight position in League One whilst matches featuring Blackpool have produced more goals than those featuring any other side in the division so far this season. We’re therefore anticipating an entertaining match in Lancashire on Saturday but all three points are likely to go the way of the home side.
Barnsley v Stockport County
Barnsley to win - 6/5
Stockport County’s dream start to the season has wilted in recent weeks seeing last season’s League Two champions drop from first to seventh with two draws and one defeat in their last three league games. Stockport County were well-beaten by lowly Leyton Orient last time out, losing 4-1 at home and this weekend they could be in for another difficult match when they travel to high-flying Barnsley in Saturday's late kick-off.
Barnsley head into the weekend just three points off top spot but their home form is a slight concern with just one win in three home league games so far this season.
Morecambe v Notts County
Notts County to win - 3/4
There are only two League Two sides still searching for a first league win this season and whilst Accrington Stanley’s match at AFC Wimbledon has been postponed, Morecambe face a tricky looking home tie against Notts County. Morecambe are rock-bottom of the entire Football League having taken just two points from seven league games to date. After kicking off the season with five straight defeats, Morecambe have fared slightly better in recent matches, drawing back-to-back games against Colchester United (3-3) and Fleetwood Town (2-2).
Notts County head to the Mazuma Mobile Stadium as the bookies’ favourites despite slumping to a first league defeat of the season last time out. Gillingham leapfrogged Notts County in the League Two table with a 1-0 win at Meadow Lane but Notts County do boast the division’s best away record with seven points in three matches.
